About AWEC: AWEC is a non-political, non-profit, woman-headed national organization established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, who rallied together to address the lack of facilities for Afghan refugees in Islamabad and eventually Peshawar, in Pakistan. AWEC has always been involved in advocacy and awareness-raising for women and children’s rights while providing services to those who frequently fall through safety nets. In recent years, one of AWEC’s core activities has been to support women through mobilizing Afghans, from local communities to political elites, towards the goal of reducing and eventually eliminating violence against women. Job Description

Position Objective

The incumbent of this position under supervision of Project Manager will assist Trainers/Teachers in capacity building and carrying relevant administrative tasks.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  1. Conduct field visits and work to understand the challenges in production, marketing and sales, with emphasis on women’s hand embroidery and buyer seller relationship dynamics.
  2. Organize and participate in the local exhibitions for the purpose promoting and selling the local hand-made embroidered products.
  3. Provide technical advice at the field level in designing appropriate and innovative livelihood and community development initiatives.
  4. Provide support and implement market linkage tools or mechanisms for the project participants
  5. Assist in ensuring effective implementation of livelihood support activities and strategies at the provincial level.
  6. Assist in executing the participant and beneficiaries’ training as per the guidance of the project manager.
  7. Staff capacity development in livelihoods-related knowledge through different types of technical training, workshops, meetings, and field visits.
  8. Ensure livelihoods related to different reports from the field, analyze all reports and take necessary initiative, and submit to technical specialist
  9. Follow technical guidance from the technical wing of the project to take necessary initiatives for the project as per need.
  10. Assist in bringing innovation in a specific context to add value to the livelihoods sector, which will drive the project toward effectiveness and sustainability
  11. Participate in different meetings and forums and provide inputs & reflections for the betterment of the project.
  12. Coordinate and maintain a good relationship with the relevant external project stakeholders
  13. Conduct and assist the business development trainers in market analysis and surveys in the target province.
  14. Collect monthly sales data from women entrepreneurs and share it with the AWEC technical team.
  15. Perform other marketing-related tasks as assigned by the project manager.

Job Requirement

Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, business administration or other relevant field.
  • At least 3 years of experience working in marketing related activities. Experience working on marketing activities that consider gender mainstreaming is highly desirable.
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate an ability to work in a culturally mixed environment.
  • Ability to think strategically and critically about the role of marketing in achieving project objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-relations skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation and editing skills in English, Dari and Pashtu.
  • Ability to work effectively, both, independently and in a team unit.
