Job Description

Job Summary:

Project Manager is responsible for handling ongoing project and working closely with team members to ensure that all project requirements, deadlines, and schedules are on track.

Responsibilities of the Job:

  • Arrange facilitate and conduct feasibility studies surveys and need assessments as and when required for the ongoing program.
  • The project manager is responsible to lead manage develop and implement programmatic technical activities provide technical inputs for baseline survey feasibility study market survey wheat value chain study etc.
  • Be familiar with program implementation approach project cycle work plan log frame including program goals objectives and indicators.
  • Provide technical inputs for the designing and developing of feasibility study assessment and survey tools.
  • Participate as active member of the feasibility study assessment and survey team.
  • He is responsible to conduct and collect required crops meteorological environmental data and calculate crop water requirement and irrigation requirement for the irrigation system.
  • He is responsible to identify the current traditional based water distribution and allocation system and introduce the improved water allocation and distribution methods.
  • He is responsible for developing capacity building materials and delivering training courses on various irrigation and agriculture topics.
  • He is responsible for introducing wheat production practices including land preparation seed selection seed-rate planting on farm water management pest and disease management and weed control.
  • responsible to train farmers in project areas in pest and disease management as well as post-harvest losses.
  • He/she is responsible to boost up the field staff capacity building in administrative management new technology and practices and marketing information.
  • Work closely with farmers to minimize or avoid the post-harvest losses.
  • Work closely with the project’ staff and stakeholders ensure good coordination and communication with them. 
  • Come up with new ideas to increase the efficiency of the project.
  • Identify needs prepare training plan and develop training modules.
  • Liaise with and support key program staff to ensure that the program is running effectively and making best use of project resources.
  • Provide inputs to project weekly monthly quarterly and annual reports.
  • Provide written and oral translation and report writing for program staff as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by Regional director.

Job Requirement

  • With minimum Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture/Agronomy and have practical working experience in wheat cultivation.
  • Recognized familiarity and experience with wheat varieties which are preferred for commercial sale utilized for flour production as well as have experience of marketing methods and market analysis.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to multi-task; prior experience in working with and/or managing wheat cultivation programming.
  • At least 3 years of technical work experience required in the area of Wheat crop production.
  • Able to work under heavy pressure meet tight deadlines and deliver high-quality work on timely manner.
  • Ability to plan and operate from a broad strategic perspective to tactical implementation and to translate thoughts into actionable plans.
  • Have strong project management planning and organizational skills including the ability to both lead and participate in cross-functional teams.
  • Proven experience building staff and partners’ capacity and leading and motivating a diverse team analysis and monitoring skills.
  • Excellent oral and written knowledge in Pashto, English language skills preferred.
  • General relevant computer skills including Microsoft Word Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Ability to travel to various district of Helmand province.
