About Society Empowerment Organization (SEO): Society Empowerment Organization (SEO) is a local non-governmental organization (NGO) founded in 2008 with the mission of assisting in humanitarian aid, education, non-formal education, IDPs and returnees, job creation in rural and urban areas, economic development, demand-driven vocational training, apprenticeship, income generation projects, peace, and human rights. SEO has implemented around 30 projects in Afghanistan over the last 14 years. UN-WFP, UNESCO, IOM, CARE International, World Bank, USAID, USIP, US Embassy, UNDP, OSF/USA, and the Afghan government are among SEO's key donors and partners. Currently, SEO is implementing UN-WFP and UNESCO projects in different provinces.
Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented surveyor to join our team at Society Empowerment Organization (SEO) for the UN-WFP project in Herat province.
As a surveyor, you will be vital in collecting and analyzing data to support our food distribution project. You will conduct surveys, study data, and provide crucial insights to our project teams. You will also have access to state-of-the-art surveying equipment and technology, enabling you to deliver high-quality results.

Job Requirement
Major responsibilities:
- Collecting data from targeted beneficiaries’ households using paper and electronic questionnaires;
- Ensuring the data is collected according to the list finalized by the Beneficiary selection committee;
- Syncing electronic questionnaires to the main database/server via mobile internet;
- Guiding beneficiaries to distribution/registration centers for the sake of SCOPE registration;
- Attending training sessions organized for surveyors at the main office;
- Performing any other duties assigned by the Line Manager.
- Analyzing data using plans, maps, charts, and software such as MODA and ODK.
- Collaborating and working with district supervisors when necessary.
Required skills and qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in surveying or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of surveying techniques, equipment, and software, preferably in the Herat context.
- Proficiency in using surveying instruments, such as MODA, and ODK.
- Solid understanding of survey calculations, and coordinate systems.
Preferred skills and qualifications
- Experience with MODA and ODK software.
- Knowledge of environmental and sustainability considerations in surveying.
- Proficiency in data analysis and interpretation using statistical software or tools.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
