About CAHPO: Community Action for Healing Poverty Organization (CAHPO) is an Afghanistan-based NGO (www.cahpo.com, www.cahpo.org). It has been established in 2013 by a group of experts in support of professional advisers and volunteers in response to the needs. was that people affected by different means of violence should be involved in decision-making for positive change in the development process of the country. CAHPO is a member of different coordination bodies e.g. ACBAR where we share our programs with other NGOs and partners. CAHPO is an active partner of UN, UNHCR, WFP, AHF, OCHA, FAO, UNICEF.... etc.

Job Description

The Construction Project Manager (CPM) will oversee and manage all aspects of the construction projects for new school buildings.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.

Coordinate with engineers, and other consultants to finalize project designs and specifications.

Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and educational standards.

Prepare detailed cost estimates and manage project budgets.

Monitor and control project expenditures to stay within budget.

Process and approve contractor payments and change orders.

Negotiate contracts and manage relationships with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Oversee the work of subcontractors and vendors to ensure quality and adherence to project specifications.

Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress and address any issues or delays.

Manage construction schedules and ensure timely completion of project milestones.

Implement and enforce health and safety regulations on-site.

Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communication with school administrators, community members, and other stakeholders.

Provide regular progress reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.

Address and resolve any project-related issues or conflicts promptly.

Ensure that construction work meets all quality standards and project specifications.

Conduct inspections and oversee testing to verify compliance with design and regulatory requirements.

Address and rectify any defects or issues in construction work.

Any other duties given by the Supervisor 

Job Requirement

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A Master’s degree in a relevant field would be preferred.

Experience: Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with NGOs or INGOs.

Ability to support his/her subordinates.

Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

Ability to interact effectively with personnel.

Fluent in spoken and written English, as well as the local languages.

Good knowledge of using Microsoft Office package. 

Strong team player.

Enthusiastic for the job.

Willingness to work in the tough security situation.

Willingness to travel as per the project requirements.

Note:

  • Previous work experience with UNICEF projects will be a plus point for the candidates.
