Job Description

The Data Analyst serves as an essential element for all data analysis activities, playing a critical role in supporting project managers and the department head in informed decision-making. This position is central to conducting comprehensive data analysis, improving data quality, and enhancing the efficiency of report-writing processes. The Data Analyst will communicate technical issues with clients, troubleshoot problems with tools like Kobo Toolbox, and implement robust mechanisms for data analysis and reporting. By excelling in this role, the individual contributes directly to the success of programs and services, ensuring data-driven insights shape strategic initiatives and improve overall departmental performance.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Data Collection and Processing:

  • Collect, clean, and preprocess raw data from diverse sources to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Implement efficient data storage and retrieval mechanisms.

Data Analysis:

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and outliers.
  • Utilize statistical methods to draw meaningful conclusions from data sets.

Reporting and Visualization:

  • Develop and implement up-to-date mechanisms to check data quality.
  • Check the data quality collected from the field and provide necessary feedback for improvement of data quality.
  • Create insightful and visually appealing reports and dashboards to communicate key findings to stakeholders.
  • Stakeholder Communication:
  • Participate in meetings with clients and communicate on technical issues related to data quality, use of tools, and data analysis.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide data-driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT and other departments to optimize the data infrastructure and enhance data accuracy.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends in data analysis and visualization.
  • Propose and implement improvements to data collection and analysis processes.
  • Provide training to all team members on data analysis techniques, software, and tools.

Job Requirement

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in analytics, economics, statistics, mathematics, social science, research, or any other relevant field (a master's degree is preferable).

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in research, survey, and M&E data analysis.
  • Recent experience in data analysis and data visualization;
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of KoBo and ODK tools are highly required.
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Office and SPSS
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database packages.

  • Experience implementing quality control measures to ensure project deliverables meet established standards and client requirements.
  1. Financial Management:
  • Ability to collaborate with finance teams to monitor project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost-effective project management.
  1. Effective Reporting Skills:
  • Experience preparing and submitting progress reports summarizing project achievements, challenges, and recommended actions.
  1. Documentation Management:
  • Skills in maintaining accurate project documentation compliant with organizational and client requirements.
  1. Technical Proficiency:
  • Ability to use statistical and data collection tools like SPSS, STATA, R, PowerBI, and Kobo Toolbox for project management and research purposes.
  1. Communication and organizational skills:
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are needed for the clear conveyance of project information.
  • Excellent organizational skills for managing project schedules, budgets, and resources efficiently.
