Job Description

Mapping and Mineral Exploration Geologist:

The Mapping and Exploration Geologist is responsible for geological mapping and exploration activities within a designated area. They contribute to the identification and assessment of mineral resources, assist in the development of exploration programs, and provide geological expertise to guide decision-making processes. This role involves fieldwork, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Specific responsibilities and duties include but are not limited to;

  • Contribute in geological mapping and surveying to identify and characterize geological formations, structures, and mineral occurrences. Prepare accurate geological maps, cross-sections, and reports based on field observations and data analysis.
  • Conduct detailed geological mapping using a variety of field techniques, such as traversing, logging rock exposures, measuring structural features, and collecting samples. Accurately record and document geological observations, including lithology, mineralogy, and structural data.
  • Cooperate, coordinate, and execute field exploration programs, including geological sampling, prospecting, trenching, and drilling activities. Collect rock, soil, and sediment samples for laboratory analysis and interpretation.
  • Integrate geological mapping data with other datasets, such as geochemical, geophysical, and remote sensing data, to provide a holistic understanding of the geological setting. Collaborate with other geoscientists and specialists to leverage their expertise and enhance the interpretations.
  • Cooperate and analyze geological, geochemical, and geophysical data to identify potential mineralization targets and assist in the interpretation of exploration results. Utilize GIS software and other geospatial tools to integrate and visualize geological data.
  • Contribute to the estimation and evaluation of mineral resources. Assist in resource modeling, estimation, and reporting based on geological data and industry standards.
  • Prepare accurate and concise technical reports, including geological interpretations, exploration results, and recommendations. Ensure compliance with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including geologists, engineers, and technicians, to optimize exploration strategies and share geological knowledge. Communicate findings, recommendations, and progress updates to stakeholders and management.
  • Adhere to health, safety, and environmental protocols and regulations during fieldwork and exploration activities. Promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

Job Requirement

Education:  Bachelor's degree (Master preferred) in Geology, Earth Sciences, or related field.

Experience: Minimum of 05 Years of relevant experience in Mapping and Mineral Exploration.

  • In-depth knowledge of geological mapping techniques, structural geology, and mineral exploration concepts.
  • Proficiency in use of global positioning system (GPS).
  • Experience with GIS software and geospatial data management.
  • Familiarity with basic of laboratory analysis techniques and sample preparation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations in the mining industry.

Language: Excellent language proficiency in Dari, Pashto and English.
