About BRAC Afghanistan: BRAC Afghanistan is seeking applications from highly qualified and experienced Afghan Nationals for an anticipated project (Phase 2 of ABADEI) for the following positions based in 13 provinces (Khost, Paktika, Kabul, Kandahar Samangan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Kunar, Nooristan, Helmand, Zabul, Urozgan, Nimro)
Job Description
• Orient/capacitate project stakeholders on the activities planned under Social Cohesion component of the project through technical trainings, workshops and meetings as planned in the project plan.
• Communicate and build close relationship/network with the local government authorities and other project stakeholders for the smooth implementation of the project activities planned under social cohesion component.
• Select the communities and participants in the target areas/districts for the considered under the project plan.
• Continuous follow up, supervision, close monitoring and progress analysis of the implemented interventions/activities throughout the project cycle.
• Provide technical support/inputs to the Technical Specialist Social Cohesion deployed at country office level in designing appropriate and innovative Social Cohesion and Community Development initiatives.
• S/He will be directly responsible for activating and supporting community based organisations (CBOs) and providing them training in peace building, and prevention of violent conflict
• S/He will be responsible for training / capacity building of the CDCs and Community Based Organization to effectively initiate, plan and implement Human Rights Based community development and community security strategies and projects;
• Develop CDCS / CBOs’ competence to monitor the fulfilment of local development projects and strategies in relation to social cohesion and to develop civic activism among young people;
• Train CBOs to report, in a clear and effective manner, to local governance institutions, service providers and community members on their activities, funding levels and results achieved
• Identifying and orienting Mullah Imams in the communities on the project objectives and its activities.
• Facilitate / organize social cohesion fairs by engaging different groups with support from the community based organizations
• Prepare success stories reflecting achievements and impact with regard to the implementation of trainings, conducting of dialogue sessions, implementation of community action plan
• Ensure the safety of team members/participants from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the programme’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment.
• Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members/participants and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action and activity implemented.
• Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
• Perform other functions as deemed essential for effective results and/or assigned by the supervisor
Job Requirement
KNOWLEDGE:
• Good knowledge from the geographical context
• Knowledge and experience in conflict analysis, prevention and resolution subject area will be an advantage;
• Good experience of working directly with local communities and local authorities
• Fluency in local languages - Pashto and Dari
SKILLS:
• Analytical skills
• Good communication and facilitation skills with different stakeholders
• Problem solving skill
• Documentation and reporting skill
• Basic computer skill
