Job Description

Objective:

The Logistics Officer is responsible for managing the logistics in Bamyan. He/ she is to ensure the good working of the logistic matters in terms of purchasing, vehicle maintenance, stock management and equipment management.

  1. Purchasing and Contract Management
    • Manage all local purchases and assess resources of local, regional, and international markets.
    • Evaluate prices, quality, availability, reliability, and sustainability for best purchases.
    • Update monthly follow-up of purchase data base and purchase files.
    • Establish and update contract monitoring chart and vehicle monitoring chart.
    • Participate in online meetings with Log Advisor/Log Manager.
    • Create service contract agreements based on team needs.
    • Submit monthly report to Logistics Manager.
    • Raise Purchase Service Requests (PSRs) based on team and office needs.
  2. Generators, Fuel, and Radio Equipment
    • Supervise maintenance and proper use of generators and ensure generator log books are used properly.
    • Manage fuel stock according to rules set by HI and ensure correct use of fuel.
    • Supervise programming and installation of radio equipment and ensure necessary information is clear and available.
    • Comply with safety and compliance regulations regarding the use of generators, fuel, and radio equipment.
  3. Vehicles and Equipment Maintenance
    • Supervise daily maintenance, log books, and cleanliness of vehicles and ensure vehicles and equipment are in good condition.
    • Arrange for maintenance and repairs as needed.
    • Report monthly on vehicle consumption and costs.
    • Ensure equipment is registered and identifiable and conduct quarterly inventory of all equipment.
    • Maintain accurate stock control and records and provide monthly stock reports to Logistics Manager.
    • Comply with safety and compliance regulations regarding the maintenance and use of vehicles and equipment.
  4. Store Keeping:
    • Receive and inspect incoming materials and supplies, record relevant information, and store them in appropriate locations.
    • Issue materials and supplies to authorized personnel and maintain accurate records of all transactions.
    • Perform regular inventory checks, monitor stock levels of frequently used items, and reorder as needed.
    • Keep the store clean and organized, and ensure that all materials and supplies are stored in a safe and secure manner.
    • Prepare reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and other related matters, and submit them to the appropriate personnel.
    • Comply with safety and compliance regulations regarding the storage and handling of materials and supplies.
  5. Office and Guesthouse Maintenance
    • Supervise maintenance of office and guesthouses and ensure regular cleaning.
    • Comply with safety and compliance regulations regarding the maintenance and use of the office and guesthouses.

Job Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in logistics, inventory management, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of logistics and supply chain management concepts and principles
  • Experience in managing of vehicles and equipment, including maintenance and repair
  • Experience in managing inventory and warehouse operations, including stock control and record-keeping
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team and interact with staff at all levels of the organization
  • Knowledge of relevant software and tools, including Microsoft Office, logistics software, and inventory management systems
  • Fluency in English and local languages, Dari and Pashto
  • Willingness to work in a challenging and complex environment
  • Commitment to the mission and values of the organization.
  • Experience of working with INGOs
