WVA education programming provides humanitarian, recovery and development projects to vulnerable out of school children (OOSC) who are affected by conflict/natural disaster, got internally displaced or are returnees from neighbor countries in remote and hard to reach areas. Education in Emergencies (EiE), Community Based Education (CBE), Youths’ Education, Teacher Training for community based and public schools teachers, School Improvement Plan (SIP) and School Construction are the main components WVA Education Programme.

Job Description

Note: This position is subject to donor approval.

The Education Assistant (EA) Associate Sector Lead is responsible for overall coordination and communication between education sector, education projects and support functions (HR, Finance, Procurement and Admin).  The incumbent provides technical and coordination support to the zonal level education team in terms of recruitment, procurement of education supplies and textbooks, community mobilization materials and processing other needed documents within national office. She also prepares relevant reports to the Ministry of Education and education cluster (EiEWG) and participate to any meetings assigned by education sector lead.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

Management of Leadership

  • Prepare monthly and weekly work plan
  • Ensure daily coordination with education team in zonal level
  • Ensure coordination and communication between education sector and other programme and support relevant departments
  • Lead and assist relevant capacity building trainings and workshops for internal and external staff
  • filing all department reports and other documents
  •  manage regular meetings, preparation of agenda, taking notes and sharing with participants and follow up on assigned agreements and tasks
  • Follow up on assigned tasks with education team in zonal level and provide updates to the management
  • Contribute on proper documentation of students and other beneficiaries
  • Contribute to national education Officers for proper and on-time preparation work, database, meetings, paper work
  • Travel to the WVA zonal offices for any education related tasks, workshops and or training   
  • Any other tasks given by the education sector lead 

Liaison and Networking

  • Work closely with education PMs and support department on procurement and logistical issues, processing financial and administration issues
  • Liaise on procurement of education supplies, stocking and transportation to the field level
  • Support and lead relevant and particular cases are followed and constantly reported for success stories and lessons learnt.

Reporting and Administration

  • On time appraisal of staff performance in accordance to WV HR policy (Community Mobilizers)
  • Ensure daily supervision of CSs
  • Prepare weekly and monthly report to the management

Other

  • Adhere to WV Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards.
  • Adhere to WV accountability standards.
  • To be aware and prepared to implement WV Afghanistan Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs plan under the context of education programming interventions.

Job Requirement

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:

  • Minimum of one year working experience in education, coordination or administration.
  • High school diploma degree
  • Excellent coordination skills
  • Knowledge of education programming is an asset
  • High level of communication and coordination skills
  • Interpersonal sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity
  • Ability to work in and contribute to a team-building environment
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse contexts, psychologically stressful environments, and hardship conditions.
  • Willing to travel as required
  • Commitment to World Vision Core Values and Mission Statement.

Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in any social principles and one year plus of working experience
  • Knowledge of working with community based education
  • Experience with information management (MIS) and filing systems.

Work Environment:

  • This is a position up to 30% travel to the field
