Job Description
ROLE PURPOSE: The Infection Control Officer will coordinate with all MHT staff to deliver key messages regarding COVID-19 through effective community engagement with a focus on prevention measure of COVID-19, hand washing, usage of face mask, usage of gloves,sing and symptom of COVID-19 that is at proposal stage. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Promotion and Messaging
- Set up 2 portable handwashing facilities (one for males and one for females) at each service delivery point
- Conduct handwashing demonstrations at service delivery points and distribute soap to men, women, boys and girls including PLW
- Conduct COVID-19 screening at Service Delivery Points and refer suspected cases for testing Where appropriate,
- Disseminate COVID-19 prevention and treatment messages (including IEC) materials at Service Delivery Points.
- Conduct community awareness raising actions to promote community awareness on COVID-19 prevention and control
- Implement and monitor policies and procedures for MHTs staff regarding sterilization, disinfection and decontamination of personnel and medical, non- medical instruments and equipment used in SDPs
- Educate patients and their families, hold community or public outreach sessions regarding COVID 19 prevention and conduct education sessions for MHTs employees.
- Ensure that all MHTs staff are applying the infection prevention and control measure including wearing Cover all, Mask, gloves and etc..Undertake regular meetings with MHT staff and and promote the COVID-19 preventive measure according to COVID-19 SOP
- Undertake regular community meetings and promote the services on offer by the MHT to local communities according to COVID-19 preventive measure and IPC.
- Coordinate activities of the project with health Shuras and community elders to ensure that key stakeholders are engaged in the project considering of COVID-19 SOP.
- Participate in the capacity building activities of the project and deliver trainings where appropriate considering COVID-19 SOP.
- Promote the importance of infection prevention control and COVID-19 preventive measures within MHT staff and beneficiary.
Child Safeguarding
- With support from HR and the CSG Focal Point, ensure that all beneficiaries and community-based staff are receiving ongoing, age-appropriate verbal or written information in relevant languages about Save the Children’s Child Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Undergraduate degree in Nursing or Midwifary
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
Essential
- Good communication skills
- Problem solving, analytical and negotiation skills
- Representation skills
- Computer literate
- 3 years of experience in relevant field
- ‘Can do’ attitude with high levels of motivation
Desirable
- Pashto and Dari proficiency in both speaking and writing
- Ability to work independently in the field.
