Job Description

The Deputy Director at OSHR will support the Director in leading and managing the organization’s operations, projects, programs, and strategic initiatives. This role involves high-level oversight, strategic planning, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and donors to ensure OSHR fulfills its mission and goals. The Deputy Director will also play a critical role in program development, fundraising, financial management, and representing OSHR to various partners and the community.

The purpose of the Deputy Director is to provide strategic leadership and operational management to OSHR, ensuring the effective implementation of programs and initiatives that advance the organization's humanitarian mission. This role is pivotal in driving organizational growth, fostering a culture of excellence, and securing the resources necessary to achieve OSHR's objectives. The Deputy Director will act as a key advisor to the Executive Director and represent OSHR in various forums to strengthen its impact and reputation

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership and Management:

  • Assist the Director in providing overall leadership and management of OSHR.
  • Oversee daily operations and activities, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness across all departments.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop staff, fostering a positive and inclusive organizational culture.

Program Development and Implementation:

  • Collaborate with program and project managers to design, implement, and evaluate humanitarian programs.
  • Ensure programs and projects are aligned with OSHR’s mission and strategic objectives.
  • Monitor program performance and outcomes, making data-driven recommendations for improvements.

Fundraising and Resource Development:

  • Support the development and execution of comprehensive fundraising strategies.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with donors and funding organizations.
  • Assist in grant writing and reporting to secure and maintain financial resources.

Financial Management:

  • Assist in the preparation and management of OSHR’s budget.
  • Monitor financial performance, ensuring sustainability and compliance with financial policies.
  • Oversee financial reporting and analysis, providing insights to the Director and Board of Directors.

Strategic Planning and Policy Development:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of OSHR’s strategic plan.
  • Participate in policy development to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Lead special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned by the Director.

External Relations and Advocacy:

  • Represent OSHR at local, national, and international meetings, conferences, and events.
  • Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, stakeholders, and the community.
  • Advocate for OSHR’s mission, programs, projects and humanitarian causes.

Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation frameworks for programs and projects.
  • Analyze program data to assess impact and inform strategic decisions.
  • Prepare and present evaluation reports to donors, partners and stakeholders.

Human Resources:

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
  • Ensure a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace environment.
  • Address employee relations issues and promote a supportive work culture.

Job Requirement

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s/ Associate  degree in health, public administration, social Sciences and Nonprofit Management). 
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a humanitarian or nonprofit organization.
  • Proven experience in program development, fundraising, and financial management.
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian principles and practices.
  • Excellent leadership, management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse donors, partners and stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with project management.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience working in National and /or with international organizations.
  • Knowledge of grant management and donor relations.
  • Fluency in additional languages (e.g., English) is a plus.
