About Voice of Women Organization: Voice of Women Organization (VWO) is an Afghanistan-based non-governmental, non-profit, non-political, and non-partisan organization that specifically strives for the revival of women’s role in Afghan societies through advocacy for women’s rights, their legal and social protection, and their capacity building. VWO informally established in Kabul in 1998 to run covert schools for girls under the repressive regime of the Taliban, VWO was registered with the Government of Afghanistan as the first women’s organization in the post-Taliban setup. The organization has since carried out scores of projects for the socio-economic advancement of Afghan women and girls. Voice of women organization established a headquarter office in 2004 in Herat province. In the beginning, it focused on women-related matters, and later on, in 2005, VWO established the first women protection center in Herat province. Currently, the organization is operating in 7 provinces (Herat, Ghor, Farah, Nimroz, Badghis, Daikondy, and Faryab) of Afghanistan having 6 projects with more than 240 employees working toward achieving its mission.

Job Description

Title: Community Educator

Dept. / Location: Kandahar-Afghanistan

Reports to: Project Manager

Description: The Community Educator is responsible for delivering public campaigns &community outreach to targeted communities in order to link individuals to Women Protection Center (WPC) for primary care with direct supervision of Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct community outreach and institutional educational programs to targeted populations.
  • Participate in health fairs, neighborhood community activities, screenings and special events.
  • Refer individuals to WPC for primary care.
  • Conduct cultural sensitivity in-services.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of community education fairs and events.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of public campaign to the community served by VWO.
  • Provide patient counseling on specific topics as directed by the community
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for data collection; and provide statistical data and/or reports per donor requirements.
  • On call coverage 24/7 during the unofficial time, weekends, holidays as needed/designated/directed by the program.
  • Ensure COVID-19 preparedness plan is implement in outreach activities and alert participants to practice all precautionary measurement.
  • Ensure enough PPE items are in place and ultimately used by participants of outreach activities.
  • Perform any other relevant assignments/duties that might be assigned by project manager

Job Requirement

Position Requirements: (Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and Sharia with preferred 2-4 years of experience with non-profit organization as community educator
  • Knowledge and experience in working with diverse communities of Kandahar province.
  • Excellent written and presentation communication skills
  • High level attention to detail and organization skills
  • Outgoing and engaging personality with confidence to interact face to face with individual and corporate communities
  • Knowledge and experience with social media platforms and websites
  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written reports on development and outreach activities, to track and assess progress and address program deficiencies as they occur.
  • Have oral and written skills of Dari and Pashto Languages.
