Job Description
JOB PURPOSE:
This is a daily/casual full-time position based in Herat City, Afghanistan with up to 50% time traveling to program field sites. The position will be part of the Communications Unit and will support in fulfilling the strategic priorities of Communications within WVA in line with WVA’s Emergency Response Plan and Country Strategy.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- General Public and Support Agencies
- Evidence-based digital/video content for resource generation.
- In response to local, regional, support office and/or Global Centre requests, develop video/photos about successes and needs in WVA emergency response projects and the overall Afghanistan situation.
- Ensure comms digital materials are published on World Vision online platforms as appropriate, and on other WV and non-WV portals as required.
- Ensure all photographic, video, web and other resources produced are developed in alignment with World Vision Child Protection standards and World Vision branding guidelines.
- Plan, script, shoot and edit video and web material in digital formats for web and broadcast distribution.
- Film with professional video equipment or equivalent, and related audio accessories such as Cannon 6D and Adobe Video and Graphic software
- Develop multimedia packages on a quick turnaround, under tight and variable deadlines for social media and other online and broadcast platforms
- Contribute to implementing WVA Emergency Communications Plan and WVA Drought Emergency Response Strategy.
2. Reputation & Influence:
- Organizational positioning in mainstream and social media.
- Ensure relevant content is developed for all digital platforms and social media channels and that WV’s branding and identity are used correctly.
3. Staff Engagement:
- Internal communications to mobilize staff for strategy, ministry execution, and impact.
- Develop internal digital/video communication tools and materials as required.
4. Designing and branding:
- Designing of all IEC and visual materials based on WV branding guidelines.
- Develop multimedia packages
- Designing of Comms pieces
5. Safety and Security responsibilities:
- Responsible action for own security and actively contribute to a positive security-minded culture
- Abide by WVA security policies and procedures and report any incidents or breaches to line managers and/or security managers.
Other:
- Perform other related tasks as required by the Comms Manager.
Job Requirement
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:
- University degree from computer science or journalism
- Knowledge of Photography and Video recording
- Knowledge of adobe programs particularly adobe photoshop, Premier, After Effects
- excellent computing skills in the photo and video editing applications
Experience:
- At least three years experience in Graphic design, Video Editing, Photography, and video recording.
Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement
Herat City: Enjil, Gozara, Karokh, Kohsan, Ghoryan districts
Language proficiency:
- Dari Language is essential
- Working level of English Language is essential
- Pashto is preferred
Professional certifications:
- Certificate of adobe reader premier, after effects, and photoshop.
