Job Description

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

The IT Specialist shall assist the IT Department personnel and the MSH/AFIAT staff by performing important tasks related to managing the    helpdesk, downloading, and preparing the timekeeping report, assisting the IT team with staff needs related to IT, and any other tasks that may come up. Also, the IT Specialist provides software and hardware support to all computer users in the main office and Provincial offices and resolves network and computer problems by performing problem diagnoses and guiding users through step-by-step solutions.

This position will clearly communicate technical solutions in a user-friendly, professional manner; provide one-on-one end-user training as needed; troubleshoot network and computers and printers' problems; conduct hardware and software inventory database maintenance and reporting; and perform related work as required. He/she ensures robust security of the office local area wired and wireless network and manages the office telephony equipment. 

Major Activities / Responsibilities:

  • Install, configure, and maintain personal computers network cabling, systems, disk drives, printers, and related equipment in MSH/AFIAT office.
  • Support, train, and advise users on SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and other Microsoft Tools
  • Ensure that all IT equipment in MSH/AFIAT is functional and ensures their proper and efficient use by training the staff members concerned.
  • Develop systems and procedures to ensure timely repair/maintenance of the IT equipment in MSH/AFIAT
  • Assist the operation team with the computer hardware inventory in MSH/AFIAT
  •  Assist the procurement department in purchasing the IT and communication-related equipment
  • Respond to IT support requests, recording detailed diagnostic information.
  • Manage and monitor attendance fingerprint machine by downloading the weekly report and preparing analysis to share with management and HR.
  • Develop and maintain an IT filing system
  • Updating IT inventory and keeping IT stock in order.
  • Assisting IT officer with Desktop support as needed by assisting to respond to help desk tickets
  • Sets up and configures computers, peripherals, and email accounts for new employees as new employees join.
  • Configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of the MSH/AFIAT cloud network on CISCO Meraki. 
  • Data Backup of MSH/AFIAT Computers and SharePoint.
  • Support the M&E and Program department with the HQIP assessments and mentorship of the MSH/AFIAT by providing the IT devices and required software. 
  • Create and manage channels on MS Teams and SharePoint for MSH/AFIAT departments. 
  • Make Wiki’s and Tutorials on IT for MSH/AFIAT staff. 
  • Regularly assess staff training needs in computer use and maintenance MS365, SharePoint, Microsoft Team, and Google Apps. 
  • Assist with IT Manager in conducting the IT training for all MSH/AFIAT staff on a weekly basis. 
  • Update Windows OS, Office 365, drivers, and patches remotely for all provincial users' endpoint devices to keep their computer's OS, Office 365, and computer drivers updated and fix errors. Bugs enhance performance and security to protect endpoint devices from malware. 
  • Manage AMP (cloud-managed endpoint security solutions) to provide advanced protection against viruses, malware, and other cyber threats by detecting, preventing, and responding to threats for all provincial endpoint users. 
  • Manage Ninja RMM (all-in-one cloud base services tool) in order to remotely monitor and manage software to solve all AFIAT’s computer system problems and enhances IT system service. 
  • Manage/configure the Biometric Fingerprint machine and instruct the IT members how to use, add/remove employees, generate attendance reports, and maintain it. 
  • Maintenance and troubleshooting of PBX (Private Branch Exchange) internal telephone network system for main office users' calls. 
  • Provide help desk on CCTV (closed-circuit television) system surveillance and security cameras for AFIAT main office. 
  • Assist the IT manager in conducting SharePoint/Office 365 training for the AFIAT employees. 
  • Maintain Thuraya XT-PRO (satellite phone) for the AFIAT security team. 
  • Monitoring the internet links of Kabul and 14 Provincial offices and quick response in case of any dysconnectivity.  Liaise with the offices’ Internet service providers to ensure the proper functioning of the main and regional offices’ internet connections and web server. 
  • Prepare IT Orientation For new joining employee.
  • Prepare Demo that how to use new Technology software which is using in MSH office.

Job Requirement

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field . 

 

REQUIRED MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in Information Technology.
  • Excellent computer skills with e-mail, word processing, and spreadsheet experience.
  • Experience in Microsoft Office 365
  • Excellent knowledge of virtual platforms like Microsoft Team, Google Meet, WebEx, Zoom, etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience in IT Desktop support
  • Strong judgment and a commitment to fair and ethical procurement practices.
  • Experience in a USG or donor-funded project required
  • Strong numeric skills and attention to detail and quality ability to work in a team-oriented environment while maintaining an individual workload
  • Logical and flexible approach to solving problems, especially when working under pressure
  • Monitoring/assessing performance to make improvements or take corrective action
