About WSTA: Watan’s Social and Technical Services Association (WSTA) is a Nonprofit and Non-Governmental Organization which was established in 1992 with the aim to provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable Afghan communities. WSTA is registered with the Ministry of Economy under license number 352, and with UNOPS office, based on code No. WON and registration No. OPS-CR-0535. WSTA is member of ANCB and ACBAR. Since its establishment, WSTA has supported the most vulnerable and conflict affected men, women and children. We have partnered with UNHCR, UNOCHA, UNWFP, IOM, IRC, Care International, Australia Aid, Canada Fund and Relief International to provide humanitarian aid by over 200 projects implemented across 20 provinces of Afghanistan. With our headquarter in Kabul, we have 10 active provincial offices in Parwan, Bamyan, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Paktia, Khost, Paktika, Panjshir, Herat, Daikundi and active presence in Kandahar and Balkh. Currently WSTA has 400 active employees which includes 320 males and 80 females. WSTA provides livelihood, vocational training, education, shelter, water and food assistance to most vulnerable communities particularly women in Afghanistan.
Job Description
This project is funded by UNDP and implemented by WSTA in Ghazni province. WSTA is seeking a skilled and dedicated female Cook who will be responsible for preparing daily meals according to WSTA’s menu. Working under the supervision of the Project Manager, the Cook will ensure that all meals are prepared in accordance with hygiene and safety standards. The role is essential for supporting the project's day-to-day operations by providing nutritious and well-prepared meals for staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare daily meals as per the menu provided by WSTA.
- Ensure all meals are cooked using safe food preparation practices, maintaining high standards of hygiene.
- Follow dietary restrictions and special requirements when necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen and dining area.
- Manage kitchen supplies, keeping track of stock levels and requesting replenishment as needed.
- Ensure that all cooking equipment and utensils are properly cleaned and stored.
- Collaborate with the Project Manager to coordinate meal times and adjust to project needs.
- Assist in meal planning and suggest improvements to the menu if required.
- Adhere to WSTA’s policies and the project’s guidelines on food preparation and handling.
- Follow all health and safety regulations related to food handling and kitchen work.
Job Requirement
- Proven experience as a cook or in a similar role, preferably within an NGO or project setting.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Ability to follow a set menu and prepare meals efficiently and consistently.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively.
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
- Must be a resident of Ghazni province or willing to relocate.
- Ability to work in a team and under the supervision of the Project Manager.
Working Conditions:
- The position is based in Ghazni province and is open to female candidates only.
- The Cook will work in a kitchen provided by WSTA and will be responsible for preparing meals as required by the project schedule.
- Regular working hours will be established by the Project Manager, with flexibility required to meet project demands.
