About Keenly Humaniterarin Assitance for New Afghanistan Organization (KHANA): Keenly Humanitarian Assistance for New Afghanistan (KHANA) organization was established in 2014 under the registration number of 4319 Ministry of Economy. KHANA is a national, non-profit and non-governmental organization established to bring together human, financial and technical resources to address some of the KHANA challenges faced by the poorest and most marginalized communities in Afghanistan. Special emphasis is placed on investing in human potential, expanding opportunity and improving the overall quality of life, especially for women, girls and children. Job Description
Specific Job Responsibilities of Defense Lawyer:
- Conduct Legal Assessments: Conduct comprehensive legal assessments for females, focusing on gender-based violence cases, ensuring that all actions align with ethical, survivor-centered approaches.
- Provide Legal Representation: Offer legal representation to females facing charges, ensuring their rights are protected and advocating for their release or fair treatment.
- Offer Legal Counseling: Provide individual legal counseling to females, offering advice on their rights and the legal processes they face.
- Facilitate Group Legal Awareness: Conduct group legal awareness sessions for females, focusing on the rights under Islamic law, Sharia, and national laws, ensuring they are informed about their legal options.
- Coordinate with De Facto Authorities: Liaise with de facto authorities to advocate for the rights of female and work towards just resolutions in their cases.
- Document and Report Cases: Maintain detailed records of all legal cases, including documentation of legal advice provided, court proceedings, and outcomes. Regularly submit case reports to the main office.
- Provide Support During Court Proceedings: Accompany and represent female during court proceedings, ensuring they receive fair treatment, justice and support, if requested.
- Engage in Capacity Building: Participate in capacity-building programs organized by KHANA Organization, enhancing legal skills and knowledge related to gender-based violence and survivor-centered approaches.
- Handle Legal Documentation: Assist female in preparing and filing necessary legal documentation, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Advocate for Policy Change: Engage in advocacy efforts to influence policy changes that protect the rights of female and address gender-based violence within the Sharia-based legal system.
- Maintain Confidentiality: Ensure that all interactions and documentation related to cases are handled with the utmost confidentiality to protect the privacy and dignity of subjects.
Job Requirement
Qualification/ Requirements
- Having LLM & LLB degree
- Knowledge and experience on the organizations community-based interventions.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, prioritizing and communication skills.
- High capacity of work, able to overcome stress and work under pressure, with a high degree of flexibility.
- Autonomous, organized, and self-motivated.
- Diplomatic and tactful, professional, and transparent.
- Excellent communication skills, fluency in English, Dari and/or Pashto.
- Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
- Good Computer skills (especially in Microsoft Office i.e., Excel, Word, and Outlook)
- Having previous working experience with KHANA is plus point and preferred
