Job Description
Job Summary:
The PSEA Focal Point at ASIO is a critical position responsible for developing and maintaining a robust framework to prevent sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA). The individual in this role will raise awareness about PSEA issues, fostering a culture that resolutely avoids sexual exploitation and abuse within ASIO. Key responsibilities include investigating and addressing claims, ensuring compliance with PSEA standards and procedures, and providing comprehensive support to survivors. The efforts of the PSEA Focal Point are vital to maintaining a safe and respectful environment throughout the organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Guidelines and Policies:
- Develop and sustain PSEA guidelines, policies, and practices that align with global standards and best practices.
- Staff Capacity Development:
- Ensure all ASIO personnel receive training and capacity development on Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) issues.
- Enhance staff awareness concerning PSEA matters.
- Zero-Tolerance Policy:
- Advocate for a zero-tolerance approach toward sexual exploitation and abuse within the organization.
- Reporting Mechanism:
- Establish a confidential and accessible system for reporting PSEA issues.
- Support for Survivors:
- Respect and prioritize the rights and needs of survivors, providing them with appropriate care and support.
- Prompt Investigation and Reporting:
- Conduct prompt and thorough investigations into PSEA complaints in accordance with established protocols.
- Regularly report on PSEA compliance activities.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Stay updated on best practices and emerging issues through communication with stakeholders, external organizations, and PSEA networks.
- Promotion and Integration:
- Promote PSEA awareness organization-wide and in communications with partners.
- Integrate PSEA principles into monitoring and evaluation (M&E) frameworks and reporting mechanisms.
- Capacity Enhancement:
- Strengthen the capacity of employees and partners to prevent and address PSEA incidents.
- Coordination and Reporting:
- Represent ASIO when required, coordinating closely with relevant working groups, including PSEA, Protection, Disability, and GBV.
- Identify and report cases related to PSEAH, GBV, and protection.
- Actively engage in organizational capacity-building related to PSEAH and GBV/Protection Principles.
- Record Keeping:
- Maintain confidential records of all PSEA-related matters, including inquiries and case management.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s Degree: A relevant degree in Social Work, Human Rights, International Development, or a related field is essential.
- Proven Experience: Demonstrated experience in a similar role managing PSEA within humanitarian or development organizations.
- Knowledge of International Standards: Strong familiarity with international PSEA standards and guidelines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and training facilitation skills.
- Confidentiality: Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost professionalism and discretion.
- Analytical Abilities: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills essential for effective PSEA management.
- Commitment to Gender Equality: A strong commitment to promoting gender equality and fostering a safe, inclusive work environment.
- Independence and Teamwork: Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Language Requirements: Proficiency in written and spoken English, Dari, and Pashto.

- The Afghanistan Social Improvement Organization (ASIO) strictly prohibits any form of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse by its staff towards the individuals they serve. Such actions are in direct violation of the universally recognized norms, values, principles, and standards that form the foundation of our organization. The responsibility of safeguarding against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) lies with everyone, and all potential candidates must adhere to ASIO’s PSEA Policy without exception. Consequently, candidates under consideration will be subjected to thorough reference and background checks concerning any past incidents of sexual exploitation and abuse.
