Job Description

NCA is looking for experienced, technically competent Psychosocial CFS facilitator with an understanding the counseling, the principles of humanitarian works, human rights, and protection familiarity on guideline standards of mental health. The person should have excellent interviewing and listening skills. The person should possess good communication skills, be able to clearly express herself, present information logically and concisely and confidentially keeps information. The candidate should have a positive attitude and be eager to learn. 

Main tasks and responsibilities for this position:

A CFS facilitator will be responsible to:

  • Plan and organize the successful conduct of the CFS sessions for the children based on the needs and interests of the children of different ages, genders, and abilities.
  • Lead recreational, psychosocial, and informal learning activities that will promote the well-being and development of the children. The activities may include but are not limited to fun games, artwork, and storytelling.
  • Ensure a friendly, protected and safe CFS environment for children.
  • Actively support the PSS counselors in the effective delivery of the support and conduct of linked activities.
  • Foster building friendly and positive relationships among the children and with their parents.
  • Keep regular track of the activities, attendance, and incidents and immediately report any urgent incidents to the supervisor that may need immediate addressing.
  • Regularly communicate with the parents about their children's strengths, and encouragement of the right caregiving approaches to the children, certainly during disasters.
  • Organize weekly parental meetings in close collaboration with his/her supervisor to keep them informed of any developments or problems within the CFS and surrounding areas.
  • Ensure children’s participatory CFS activities and report the psychosocial disorders or problems of any child to the lead counselor.
  • Maintain accurate records of the beneficiary's cases and keep all case documents protected and confidential.
  • Support setting up a monitoring system to evaluate the effectiveness and the impact of the planned individual and group psychological support to the children.
  • Ensure a child-friendly and discrimination-free atmosphere within the CFS.
  • Establish a rotation system to promote the sharing of equipment and toys between children.
  • Ensure playing the role of a positive role model and demonstrate conflict-solving behaviors.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports.
  • Performs any other relevant tasks assigned by the supervisor.

Job Requirement

  • A bachelor’s degree in psychology or related fields.Having a master’s degree is desirable.
  • Having valid certificates from the Ministry of Health as a professional psychosocial counsellor is an asset.
  • A minimum of one (1) years of related experience as a psychosocial support worker preferably with an international NGO is required.
  • Experience working through partners and UN agencies is as asset 
  • Competent mental health backgrounded in the field of psychosocial counseling facilitation.
  • Can effectively communicate in English and the local language. 
  • Ability to travel to project areas. 
  • Communication skills and attention to detail
  • Make sure the confidentiality of information
  • Passionate about the mental health and well-being of clients, including GBV survivors. 
  • Passion for the understanding of humanitarian issues. 
  • Excellent and inspiring communicator 
  • Ability to work under stress and manage personal stress.
  • Competent in coaching and training skills.
  • Excellent skills and techniques in interviewing diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to support group sessions.
  • Excellent report-writing skills in English
  • Excellent computer skills (word & excel)
