Job Description
The Head of Production at Moby Media is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of the company's media production efforts. This role involves strategic planning, team leadership, budget management, and ensuring the successful execution of media projects while maintaining high-quality standards.
1. Production Management:
Develop and implement a comprehensive production strategy that aligns with Moby Media's goals and objectives.
Collaborate with the executive team to set production priorities and objectives.
Create detailed production plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation, for each project.
Meet the producer and other production staff to review scripts prior to production.
Handle and oversee location selection and bookings.
Sort travel arrangements.
Perform health and safety checks.
Ensure the production operates according to schedule.
Oversee day-to-day production implementation.
Supervise production staff members.
Report to the MD and relevant stakeholders on the production's overall progress.
Handle any issues with production.
Ensure the production complies with company’s policies, broadcast regulations, health and safety regulations and copyright laws.
2. Resource Management:
Oversee the allocation of production resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to ensure optimal efficiency.
Assign/hire crews and contractors and determine their pay rate.
Manage production schedules and workflow to maximize productivity.
3. Quality Control:
Maintain high-quality standards for all media productions, ensuring they meet or exceed industry benchmarks and client expectations.
Conduct regular research and train production team to in conducting research to improve content quality
Establish and enforce quality control processes and standards across all projects.
4. Budget Management:
Manage production budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-effectiveness while delivering top-quality work.
Provide regular financial reports and forecasts to senior management.
5. Vendor and Talent Relations:
Build and maintain strong relationships with external vendors, contractors, and talent.
Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and ensure timely deliverables.
6. Risk Management:
Identify potential risks in production processes and develop contingency plans to mitigate them.
7. Team Leadership and Development:
Lead and inspire the production team, fostering a collaborative and creative work environment.
Mentor and develop team members, facilitating their growth and skill development.
8. Workflow Optimization:
Continuously improve production workflows and processes to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
Explore and implement innovative technologies and tools to enhance production capabilities.
9. Technology Integration:
Stay updated with the latest production technologies and trends.
Assess their relevance for the company's projects and oversee their integration.
Job Requirement
• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, film, media production, or related fields (master’s degree preferred).
• Proven experience in media production management, 5 years of experience for candidates with a bachelor's degree, and 3 years with a master's.
• Strong management and leadership skills, including budgeting and scheduling.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
• Good communication, and interpersonal skills in Pashto, English, and Dari languages
• Strong critical thinking skill
• Thorough understanding of industry-standard software and equipment used in media production.
• In-depth knowledge of media trends and emerging technologies.
• Familiarity with legal and compliance issues in media production.
Additional Information:
• This position may require occasional travel.
• Flexibility to work irregular hours when necessary to meet project deadlines.
