Job Description

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Guard will work closely with the support staff and be vigilant and remain at post at all times. He will prohibit non-MC vehicles from entering the compound and patrol around the compound during the night duty.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Be vigilant at all times – including, night shifts; (guards sleeping on duty will be terminated immediately) 
  2. Remain at post at all times – including when on gate duty.
  3. Prohibit non-MC vehicles from entering the compound or parking within 50 meters of the premises.
  4. Receive visitors; issue visitors’ cards and maintain a log register for the incoming visitors.
  5. Notify appropriate Mercy Corps staff members of arrivals.
  6. Maintain records of the gate passes at the gate.
  7. Maintain a log register for the vehicles going out/coming in after regular working hours and during weed ends/holidays.
  8. Assist in logistic support as and when required like loading unloading etc.
  9. Cleaning of office as and when assigned by the supervisor.
  10. Maintain the tidiness of the office outdoor premises.
  11. Burn, bury, or otherwise dispose of garbage.
  12. Adhere to all MC safety protocols and policies.
  13. Bring any repair and maintenance requirements to the attention of the administrator/property officer.
  14. Ensure flashlights and radio are always in good working order and that you have a good supply of spare batteries.
  15. Routine patrols of the compound during night duty (at least once every hour). Regularly check on any Mercy Corps vehicles outside the gates.
  16. Respond to routine radio checks from the Head Guard or appointee.
  17. Assist in maintaining generators and office heaters as per instructions from the Property Officer.
  18. Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to Mercy Corps and not jeopardize its humanitarian mission.
  19. Other duties as assigned.
