Job Description

ROLE PURPOSE: 
Child Protection Caseworker will be responsible for the provision of case management services and community mobilization activities in the project coverage area in Balkh province. She/he will be responsible to work directly on Child Protection Case Management with the communities and children.
SCOPE OF ROLE:

Role Dimensions: The post holder will establish good working relationship with project staff within internal environment.
•   Undertake and meet all case management responsibilities in relation to individual children, including drafting of case plans within two weeks of identification, as directed by the line manager. 
•   Managing child protection cases considering all case management principles and requirements, the best interests of the child and the Do No Harm principle. 
•   Establish a good working relation with authorities in communities and maintain regular, effective and meaningful contact with children and families,
•   Facilitating case management process/referrals ensuring confidentiality and obtaining informed consent/assent forms.
•   Safe storage of all case management forms, ensuring confidentiality and sharing information with approved individuals on a need-to-know basis.
•   In coordination with children, families, teachers and community-based child protection groups, facilitate regular case planning and review of case plans for all cases.
•   Facilitate awareness raising for communities on relevant child protection concerns, case management reporting mechanisms, service mapping and referrals.
•   Continually update case notes to keep track of the case details and support assessments and revisions of case plans as client needs change. 
•   Providing support, guidance and counselling to families and individuals in need, including facilitation of group PSS sessions.
•   Mapping and regular update of the existing services and awareness raising on existing services among targeted communities.
•   Ensure that case plans are regularly reviewed and facilitate the attendance of all key stakeholders at relevant meetings including case conferences and reviews.
•   Regular visit and monitoring of activities with CBCPN Groups and conduction of recreational activities.
•   Capacity building of local child protection structures for safe identification and referrals of child protection cases.
•   Providing capacity building sessions for communities on Positive Discipline in Everyday Parenting, Neglect, Exploitation, Violence and Abuse, 
•   Support access to legal supports and services for cases and their families as need and where possible. 
•   Report any child safeguarding concerns related to Save the Children Child Safeguarding focal point considering the SCI - Child Safeguarding Policy
•   Attend relevant inter-agency coordination meetings, workshops and conferences as required and assigned by Line Manager.
•   To develop short-term implementation plans (weekly and monthly) and long-term plan according to annual project work plan.
•   Maintain and effective filing system for storing project documentation in accordance with standard procedures.
•   Conduction of ongoing assessment to address child protection cases
•   To assist the CP Officer, referring to other services in case of specific needs
•   Any other tasks directed by supervisor.
•   To collect valid activity data of the project on weekly and monthly basis to prepare monthly and quarterly reports. 
•   Attend relevant inter-agency coordination meetings, workshops and conferences as required
•   Any other tasks relate to child protection programs given by line manager

Job Requirement

QUALIFICATIONS  
•   Bachelor’s degree in social science or any other relevant field.  

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
•   At least two years of relevant work experiences, preferably with NGOs or INGOs.
•   Knowledge of the dominant language in the province.
•   Computer Knowledge.
•   Good knowledge of English language.
•   Ability to work in multi-cultural environment 
•   Strong communication skill especially with the communities and children 
•   Being able to promote the best interests of a child within case management.
•   Being able to empower caregivers to support children.
•   Should know what types of child protection issues require a case management response.
•   Should have enough knowledge of child protection and understanding about UNCRC.
•   Being able to differentiate child rights from child protection cases in case management.
•   Should have enough knowledge of case management principles and Do No Harm Policy
•   Being able to travel within the province and outside the province.
•   Good communication skill and able to build working relation with government stakeholders.
