In particular, and in line with its global strategy and priorities, HI has been advocating to reduce the use of landmines and conventional weapons. Acknowledging the need to respond to the urgent emergency crises combined with longer term, chronic gaps in the provision of services, HI has steadily expanded its range of activities and services in order to support the most vulnerable people, enhancing their resilience while strengthening participation and inclusion of all individuals.

Job Description

HI is currently setting up an emergency response in  Herat for the earthquake response. The role of Physiotherapist will be part of an Emergency Mobile Team/ Static Team comprised of social mobilisers, Physiotherapists and Psychosocial workers providing emergency support to individuals and communities directly impacted by the Oct 2023 Earthquake in Herat. The service provided will be a combination of static and emergency. This role requires relocation to Herat for 5 months

  1. Responsibilities as a Physiotherapist:

Assessment of patients

  • Undertaking accurate assessments of patients in his/her care
  • Ensuring appropriate treatment planning and aims of treatment
  • Undertaking effective, efficient and safe treatment programs
  • Following assessment ensure that a clinical diagnosis is made
  • Ensure that appropriate treatment planning and aims of treatment are completed

Follow up of patients

  • To ensure effective follow up of the patient from date of entry into the system to the date of discharge, with the help of the technician if required
  • To prepare treatment plan for physiotherapist assistants
  • To ensure that the physiotherapist assistants are correctly implementing treatment plans
  • To be in charge of the definition of the function of any device the patient may require and to discuss with the technician the prescription of the device
  • To be responsible for the prescription of devices
  • To be in charge of gait training in consultation with the technician
  • Maintaining patient records in a timely and efficient manner in the required forms and fill in the Physio card properly
  • To check the appropriateness, fit and use of a device before discharge in consultation with the Physio assistants that every one is maintaining patients record in a timely and efficient manner in the required forms

Treatment of patients

 

  • To supervise physiotherapy sessions and ensure that treatment plan and undertaken is both effective and safely implemented
  • To implement new techniques that improves the quality of care of the patients receiving physiotherapy
  • Ensuring up to date information on physiotherapeutic techniques and advances
  • Report any changes need to be implemented to Head of Physiotherapy department
  • To have a correct behavior toward patients
  • To help the counterparts when he/she is busy

Training of staff

  • To participate and provide training to new physiotherapist assistants to an acceptable standard in consultation with the Head of Physiotherapy department
  1. Other Responsibilities:
  • To share information with other Physiotherapist and Assistants
  • To follow the codes of tools & equipment’s of its dept. & inform Head of Physiotherapy department when a code of an item removes
  • To inform Head of Physiotherapy department on time when a tool or equipment is changed from its dept.
  • To follow maintain instructions of machines
  • When required assist other Physio staff
  • To have a good behavior towards the staff in Physio Dept
  • To respect and follow Head of Physiotherapy Department’s advice
  • To inform Head of Physiotherapy department at least one week before if he wants to take annual leave
  • To supervise the maintenance and ensure the good use of the physiotherapy rooms and appliances
  • To report or inform Head of Physiotherapy department when something abnormal happens
  • To inform Head of Physiotherapy department about things that need to be repaired or maintained
  • To pay attention and respect the visitors who visit the center
  • To participate in weekly or monthly meetings
  • To keep a good relationship with the team
  • To refer to the Head of Physiotherapy Department in case of problems
  • Any other tasks not mentioned in the terms of reference and based on the requisition/ requirements of the project should be fulfilled by the employee when requested by the PRC Officer and/or Project Manager.

Job Requirement

Knowledge required

Essential

At least 3 years PT diploma

Minimum 3 years clinical experience

Fluent Pashto

Skills required

Essential

Communicate effectively with patient relatives and health care professionals establishing professional and ethical relationship.

Teaching and presentation for individuals and groups.

Manage time, personal emotions and stress and prioritize workloads.

Experience in early physical rehabilitation for disaster and conflict preferred

Desirable

English and computer
