About Terre des hommes (Tdh) Foundation: Terre des hommes Lausanne (Tdh) is a Swiss child welfare foundation, providing assistance and protection to vulnerable population worldwide. Tdh has been working in Afghanistan since 1995 and carry out projects related to Child Protection, Access to Justice, Mother and Child Health and Livelihood Programs in Kabul, Herat, Takhar & Nangarhar provinces.
Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Health Program Coordinator and technical support of Child Protection Manager, the social worker will be responsible to ensure awareness activities on child protection and GBV and to follow up of extremely vulnerable cases. Through integrated approach by social work. The social worker supports individuals and families who live in extreme conditions and do not have access to improved protection, education and psychosocial wellbeing. Social workers expected to run awareness activities with communities, to detect and follow up extremely vulnerable cases and to ensure a strict adherence to Tdh Child Safeguarding Policy at all times, including respect of confidentiality and a child centred approach.
Based in Herat with daily field visits to the community, social workers will also be part of meetings/trainings held in Herat.
Main responsibilities :
- Mobilize the communities to participate in activities and awareness sessions on child right, child protection and GBV.
- Carry out awareness session about child rights and child protection with the community member include women, men, boys and girls
- Through outreach and home visits, identify and follow-up extremely vulnerable cases of children and children with specific needs(direct assistance or referral to external service providers)
- Registered the identified children in the case management system for better support.
- Report on a weekly basis to the Line manager on the progress of his/her activities.
- Perform any other identical duty as assigned by line supervisor.
- Ensure that all child protection activities in line with Child Protection Minimum standard CPMS
- Collect information and individual record (follow-up forms, individual files, etc.)
- Develop good working relation with other aid agencies and the authorities
- Attend all required internal and external trainings and meetings
Child Protection
Child Protection: Use observation skills to detect any behavioral changes or specific vulnerability in children that may be reason for concern and share these observations with immediate supervisor and social workers team at joint weekly staff meetings to determine appropriate responses.
Safeguarding Policy ( Global Code of Conduct)
- Global Code of Conduct ( GCC ) Child Safeguarding Policy (CSP), Policy on the Protection from sexual exploitation and Abuse ( PSEA ) , Directive on staff misconduct at workplace and GBV, Operational Risk Management: Undertake to adhere to the Terre des hommes safeguarding policy and the principles connected to children's rights
- Undertake to ensure the best possible practical implementation of the safeguarding policy (Global Code of conduct ) and the management of operational risks in his/her area of intervention and within his/her team.
- Make sure all volunteers , visitors sign / understand Tdh Global code of conduct at a glance and my commitment to child safeguarding.
Safety & Security
- Conduct field visits with the consent of line manager who check the security of the area prior.
- Report instantly if you observe any security threat , heard any report any suspicion , rumors about the safety of the staff and its beneficiaries
- Strictly follow Tdh security policy and regional security plan.
Job Requirement
- Advanced University degree in sociology, psychology, social studies or any other field relevant to the project.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years progressively responsible of professional work experience at a national level in implementing humanitarian and/or development activities,
- Community social development experiences an asset
- Dari/Pashto is required
- Good in report writing and case management
- Takes prompt action in cases of unethical behavior, ensures team members do not abuse their power or position.
- Ensures transparency is at the heart of program development and implementation, ensures programs are acting with integrity and recognizes the impact of not doing so.
- Establishes priorities according to team and project goals, ensures ratio between staff time allocation and resources are appropriate, assists others in organizing and managing heir workloads
- Encourages and supports the team to work through its stages of development and perform well.
- Communicates a vision and motivates others towards it.
