Job Description
The Agribusiness Specialist will conduct short-term technical training for rural SMEs in Khost, Paktia, Kandahar, and Kabul provinces of Afghanistan. The training will focus on improving the participants' knowledge and skills in agribusiness management, Business plans development, Market Linkages, group formulation, quality management, Seasonal calendar, Land and resource utilization, General agriculture practices, cropping and sustainable agriculture practices, food processing, marketing, and production techniques to enhance their productivity and profitability. The Agribusiness Specialist will be responsible for developing and delivering the training content, facilitating group discussions and exercises, and providing individualized coaching and mentoring to the participants.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive training program on agribusiness management, General agriculture practices, cropping and sustainable agriculture practices, food processing, marketing, marketing, and production techniques that is tailored to the needs of rural SMEs in Khost, Paktia, Kandahar, and Kabul provinces.
- Conduct a needs assessment of the target audience to determine the most appropriate training content and methodologies.
- Design and facilitate interactive training sessions, group discussions, and exercises to engage the participants and enhance their learning experience.
- Provide individualized coaching and mentoring to the participants to help them apply the training content to their specific business context.
- Collaborate with local stakeholders, such as government extension agents, NGOs, and private sector representatives, to enhance the training program's relevance and effectiveness.
- Collect and analyze training feedback from the participants to identify areas for improvement and adjust the training program accordingly.
- Provide technical assistance to the participants to help them implement the training content in their businesses.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in agribusiness development, training, or consulting, preferably in Afghanistan or a similar context.
- Strong knowledge of agribusiness management, marketing, and production techniques.
- Experience in designing and delivering training programs, preferably in a rural context.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills, including the ability to work with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to inform program decisions.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
- Strong commitment to improving the lives of rural communities through sustainable agribusiness development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience working in Khost, Paktia, Kandahar, and Kabul provinces, or similar regions in Afghanistan.
- Experience working with rural SMEs, farmer groups, or cooperatives.
- Familiarity with international best practices in agribusiness development and training.
- Experience in using participatory training methods and tools, such as action learning and participatory rural appraisal.
