About Agency for Rehabilitation Assistance & Development of Afghanistan (ARADA): Agency for Rehabilitation Assistance & Development of Afghanistan (ARADA) is an Afghan developmental, non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organization which promotes and provides development and humanitarian services to the people of Afghanistan, in particular to the country’s rural population. ARADA was established in 1992 by a group of experienced, professional and dedicated social workers with a mission to provide emergency aid and humanitarian assistance to the Afghan refugees through different refugee’s camps in Pakistan. In 2006, ARADA secured its legitimacy and has been legally registered with the ministry of economy of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. ARADA now operates solely in Afghanistan and over the years it has transformed itself into the one of Afghanistan’s foremost development NGOs, although it continues to respond to natural and conflict-related emergencies in the country, to reach the most disadvantaged groups in Afghan society often under very difficult circumstances. Among those with whom ARADA assists are: Vulnerable and poor families, male/females, the unemployed and the uneducated, returning refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), disaster affected communities as well as a variety of community-based organizations. Job Description

Job Summary

The Community Education Supervisor will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the ARADA education program. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the Non-Formal Education (NFE) initiatives, including Community-based Education (CBE) and Accelerated Education Programme (AEP), with a focus on ensuring inclusive and protective educational opportunities for displacement-affected children and youth.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Program Management:

    • Oversee the planning, implementation, and monitoring of CBE and AEP activities in alignment with ARADA education program objectives.
    • Ensure that education interventions contribute to the cognitive, emotional, and psychosocial development of children and youth.

Community Engagement:

    • Foster strong relationships with communities, local leaders, and key stakeholders to facilitate collaboration and community participation in education initiatives.
    • Organize awareness sessions to promote the importance of education, targeting parents, caregivers, and community members.

Capacity Building:

    • Build the capacity of local teachers and facilitators through training sessions on pedagogy, classroom management, and psychosocial support.
    • Collaborate with master trainers to implement the Better Learning Programme (BLP) and ensure its integration into educational activities.

Infrastructure Development:

    • Oversee the construction and/or renovation of transitional educational classrooms and WASH facilities in collaboration with School Management Committees (SMCs).
    • Ensure the implementation of safety measures and learner-friendly infrastructure in hub schools.

Resource Management:

    • Manage the distribution of teaching and learning materials, including hygiene kits, to CBE and AEP graduates.
    • Facilitate the effective utilization of capitation grants and cash modalities for School Improvement Plans (SIPs) by SMCs.

Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Establish a robust monitoring and evaluation system to track project progress and identify areas for improvement.
    • Prepare regular reports on project activities, outcomes, and challenges for internal and external stakeholders.

Required Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Abilities

Competencies are important in order for the employee and the organisation to deliver desired results.

Common professional competencies for this position:

  • Bachelor Degree in Social Work, Education, Social Science or Development Studies.
  • At least 3 years’ experience.
  • ICT Skills including skills in using the Microsoft Office Package.
  • Fluency in English, Dari and Pashto, written and spoken;
  • Fluency in Pashto (reading, writing, speaking) is mandatory.
