Job Purpose:

1. Take the responsibility of hygiene promotion awareness for men, women and children.
2. Assist project officer in well implementation and monitoring of the project activities.

Job Summary:

The job will involve a large amount of field work and significant amount of paper and desk work including extensive travels to the field level. The Hygiene Promotor will have to develop hygiene awareness materials according the WASH cluster guideline and overall understanding of the hygiene awareness for the people at community level.

The Hygiene Promotor is expected to provide technical facilitation of the hygiene awareness in the project area in Bamyan, Laghman and Nangarhar. The Hygiene Promotor will work with the local people, communities and partner NGOs from identification of emergency interventions and implementation of projects. H/She will work with communities to ensure community people can easily attend to the awareness sessions. 

Key Responsibilities

Implementation, Supervision, Monitoring, and Evaluation:

• Coordinate and organize hygiene awareness activities and conduct the sessions at field level.
• Develop materials on hygiene, and prepare methodology on implementation of hygiene awareness sessions.
• Impart hygiene awareness sessions to children and parents on significance of hygiene practices. Conduct hygiene awareness in a way that behaviour change can occur.
• Have a detailed and regular plan for conducting hygiene awareness sessions.
• To work for the promotion of Hygiene practices at community level.
• Make known for community the importance, significance and impact of good hygiene practice.
• Pass environmental and personal hygiene and WSS massages to the related community.
• Build and maintain good relationships with community members and leaders,
• Coordinate within the project staff in all issues related to the implementation of hygiene activities.
• Provide daily/weekly progress/activity to her supervisor.
• Keep an updated record of all field activities.
• Ensure the highest level of accountability and transparency and consideration of CHS at all level of project implementation.
• Highly consider the environmental principles and respect to the policies.
• As per instruction from supervisor, coordinate with different stakeholders and partners in the disaster affected areas to collect primary data and will share it accordingly

• Consultation and Coordination:

• Assist the project officer to implement the project activities in a best way,
• Consult and coordinate the field level works with the project officer and report any incidence.
• Maintain good working relationships between Community World Service Asia staff, groups and teams.
• Assist project officer through actively and regularly participation and representing Community World Service Asia (CWSA) in relevant meetings, seminars and conferences.
• Support project officer whenever required in coordinating with relevant agencies including but not limited to Governmental, Non-Governmental Organizations, UN agencies, and line departments for whatever purpose that may benefit projects.

• Confidentiality:

• Maintain confidentiality in all information h/She gained through access to organizational database, flow of information, or other information source. Any disbursement of information related to Community World Service Asia, its projects/programs, staffs, or other relevant matters will be legally held against.
• The duties listed above covers most of the tasks and responsibilities that would be performed by the individual in this position; however, the hygiene promotor can also be assigned any other official task by Management as and when required.
