About Turquoise Mountain: Turquoise Mountain is a non-profit, non-governmental organization specializing in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. Since 2006 Turquoise Mountain has cleared 36,000 cubic meters of rubbish from the streets, restored or built 150 historic and community buildings, created a primary school and a clinic, and installed water, electricity, and sanitation through the historic traditional craft neighborhood of Murad Khani in the old city of Kabul. It has created the internationally accredited Institute for Afghan Arts & Architecture, training the next generation of craftsmen and women in woodwork, jewelry and gem cutting, calligraphy and miniature painting, and ceramics. Finally, it has sold over US$ 15,000,000 of Afghan artisan products internationally.
Job Description
Job summary
As a Mathematics Teacher, she is responsible to teach Ministry of Education Curriculum and other level of Mathematic. Furthermore, managing classes based on academic standards. Her duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the marking of work handed in. On top of this she will also have to arrange some useful activities and set targets for the students. She will also be responsible for the safety of students during the lessons. She must report on all her class related activities to her Line Manager, she will teach Mathematics Subjects for Children.
Duties and Responsibilities
- The Mathematics Teacher is responsible for teaching Mathematics.
- Communicating with students in an understandable and effective way about daily lessons and instructions.
- The Mathematics Teacher must have sufficient Islamic Information, to teach some Islamic Subjects if needed.
- Lesson Planning: prepare lesson plans and instructional materials based on the curriculum or the needs of your students. This involves selecting appropriate teaching resources, such as textbooks, worksheets, online tools, or multimedia materials.
- Developing flexible, effective teaching tools and methods to help students learn Mathematics.
- Working Students individually if they need extra help and support in their Mathematics and English Language.
- The knowledge and Skills of teaching children is a must.
- Creating and assigning learning projects, essays, tests, quizzes, and homework for students, then grading their performance accurately on these assignments.
- Establishing clear learning objectives and developing these with their students.
- Managing students’ behavior in the classroom and on school premises and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior.
- Could cope with Teaching children aged 6-12.
- Participating in departmental meetings and whole school training events.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive and supportive learning environment. Establish rules and expectations for behavior and participation, manage student interactions, and address any issues or disruptions that may arise during class.
- Selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment.
- Plans lessons in line with targeted objectives to ensure that students learn. She also encourages, monitor, and record the progress of his students.
- Monitoring Progress: Track and monitor students' progress and performance regularly. Identify areas where students are struggling and implement strategies to address their individual needs effectively.
- Preparing a Teaching Plan, Attendance Sheet and applying Teaching Tools is a must.
- Daily school supervision, taking exams and marking the papers of students and giving feedback.
- Other tasks given by the Turquoise Mountain Charity Course authorities or by line managers
Job Requirement
- At least Diploma from (Darul Malimin) in Mathematics, bachelor’s degree from Education Faculty and Kabul university will be preferred.
- Having at least 2 years’ experience in teaching students in primary and secondary education.
- Knowledge and skills of teaching and working with children is a must.
- In-depth knowledge of teaching methods and legal educational procedures
- Having the best teaching ability to carry the knowledge and skills to the learners.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills is a preference.
- familiarity with both national languages.
