Job Description
The provincial coordinator will provide guidance and technical leadership in the implementation of NCA's BREAD project in Ghazni province. The intervention is under UNDP's Area-Based Approach to Development Emergency Initiatives (ABADEI 2.0), which is a flagship programme that brings UN agencies and many national and international NGOs and civil society organizations (CSO) together through a coherent approach and funding platform over a wide geographic coverage. ABADEIs focus is to help meet basic human needs and services by revitalizing local markets and assisting local communities to rebuild their lives and livelihoods.
The BREAD (Building Resilient Ecosystems for Area-Based Development) project is a pilot focusing on a market-driven ecosystem of community kitchens in Ghazni, with the objective to provide healthy and affordable meals to communities and create safe economic spaces for women and youth to engage in trade and other social activities. Building Resilient Ecosystems for Area-Based Development (BREAD), transliterates to "Naan" which means bread but also colioquial!y refers to food in local languages. NCA envisions BREAD as a bold and innovative initiative that will empower communities to cope with food insecurity, malnutrition, and create jobs for women and youth.
The project will BREAD the most vulnerable groups, primarily women, youth, and marginalized populations. This will be done through an integrated and environmentally sustainable intervention that will strengthen communities' resilience while delivering aid to drive socioeconomic recovery.
List of the main tasks and responsibilities for this position:
Technical Leadership
- In collaboration with the project management team and thematic leads, develop in-depth understanding of the BREAD project scope and particulars i.e. timeframes, outcomes, budget, and reporting commitments.
- Coordinate the overall implementation of the BREAD project activities in Ghazni and with the Kabul project team including the planning, budgeting, implementing, monitoring & reporting.
- Provide guidance and technical leadership to the project team, ensuring that resources and equipment are always available.
- Promote identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned for organizational sharing and learning
- Contribute to the strategic programmatic direction of NCA by identifying and expanding opportunities for learning and mainstreaming market-driven ecosystem community kitchens, and the TVET program in Ghazni province and beyond.
- Analyse project risks, including anticipated contextual changes and identify mitigation strategies, closely coordinating with the project management team in Kabul.
- Participate actively and engage with communities through accountability workshops and receive community feedback to improve program quality and delivery.
- Provide technical guidance to Ghazni staff and ensure they are regularly reporting on outcomes, and impact on beneficiaries.
- Support colleagues, ensuring that they adhere to Complaints Response Mechanism (CRM), Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) on quality and accountability, and the SPHERE standard,
Reporting, Communication and Visibility
- In collaboration with the ABADEI Project Coordinator, ensure timely and quality reporting of project activities / targets and accomplishments.
- In collaboration with NCA Communications team, support the development of materials that can be used to increase the visibility of the project at the province,
- Support the ABADEI Project coordinator in maintaining close links and coordination with communities and provincial/district local authorities.
- Support the ABADEI Project coordinator to collaborate with stakeholders in organizing advocacy platforms and providing oversight in advocacy initiatives
- Organise orientations, lessons learned workshops and document project experience in collaboration with the communications officer.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Agriculture or related field. Master's degree is an added advantage.
- A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in managing humanitarian and development projects.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in an international organization is an advantage and knowledge of UNDP projects.
- Can effectively communicate in English and the local language.
Must be willing to travel to project areas.
