Job Description

 Know, understand, and comply with Islamic Relief Worldwide internal child protection policies and procedures.

·      Manage the case management unit (case workers and Psychosocial support counselors) on CPiE in a way that leads to quality and efficiency of work, including the management of logistic, scheduling effective teamwork.

·      In coordination with psychosocial counselors and case workers, assess potential cases for direct protection assistance and find eligible for referral based on updated service mapping.

·      Uphold the humanitarian principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.

·      Always respect the Islamic Relief Worldwide values, both within and outside of working hours

  • Manage and support psychosocial counselors and case workers to document case history and update case management directory accurately and follow data protection policy.
  • Create an effective communication system between protection team members and technical managers to ensure quality protection services.
  • Manage and support the case workers and PSS to assist beneficiaries in creating individual care, plans ensuring to provide proper protection services (Psychosocial counseling, referral and follow up) and recreational needs are considered during case management process;
  • Manage and support the team to assess beneficiaries’ educational needs.
  • Manage and support case workers and Psychosocial Counselors to accurately implement all case management plans, ensuring all processes and protocols are followed.
  • Manage and support the team in establishing good relationships with beneficiary families, partners, and referral organizations.
  • Build trusting relationship with beneficiaries.
  • Manage and support the team in reintegration assessment, planning and follow up of all beneficiaries, as needed, ensuring all decision are made in the best interest of the client.
  • Ensure accurate, thoughtful, and timely reporting to the Child Protection programme officer and coordinator.

Job Requirement

University degree in Psychology, Law or Social Work, and social sciences.

•        An understanding of the principles of humanitarian work, human rights, child protection, and the needs of internally displaced persons and refugees in Afghanistan.

•        Interest in humanitarian work and human rights, ability and willingness to learn.

•        Ability to clearly express one’s thoughts, to analyze and present information clearly and concisely.

•        Ability to set priorities and show initiative, to work independently and as part of a team.

•        Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

•        Good interpersonal and communication skills.

•        At least three to four years of practical working experience as a psychosocial supervisor in psychosocial field or at least 2-4 years of working as psychosocial counselor under close supervision of expert clinical psychologists/ psychologists.

•        Having strong experience and skills in conducting training in psychosocial counseling and supervision skills for the psychosocial counsellors.

•        Having good comprehension and learning attitude in psychosocial interventions.

•        Experience in coordination with multi-stakeholders (GOs/I/NGOs) for the effectiveness of the service, including referral service.

•        Familiarity with IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support In Emergency Settings.

•        Understanding the psychosocial support needs of IDPs/refugees setting in Afghanistan

•        Good knowledge of English.

•        Professionally understand (read and write) Pashto and Dari
