Job Description

Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Area Program Coordinator, the Entrepreneurship and Marketing Officer undertakes the following roles and responsibilities: 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conduct market needs assessment, and market movement monitors data collection and identification of Women entrepreneurs, high-valued skills, agricultural crops, and non-agriculture products from the HHs.
  • Formation of value chain partnerships and networks, analyses of collected data, and produce reports.
  • Preparation and development of the concept notes and ToRs for the business events and exhibitions.
  • Identify value chain opportunities, notably by mapping and evaluating existing supply chains, and recommend additional priority opportunities for value chains and skills development.
  • Outline value chain opportunities by developing project summaries and market analysis reports.
  • Facilitate, monitor, and supervise the process of selection of WE’s and other producers’ groups and the setup of key component outputs and tools, including the training activities, transfer of technologies, and facilitation of producer groups’ creation.
  • Assist entrepreneurs, and prospective investors by providing advice and technical support, including business case development, economic viability analysis, risk assessment, and feasibility of value chain activities – projects.   
  • Support WE’s in business development plans and facilitate training.
  • Maintain close coordination/linkages with relevant departments or agencies on the implementation of project value chain development activities and project product market linkages.
  • Work closely with the departments of commerce and industry DoCI, Afghanistan chamber of commerce and investment ACCI, DAIL, and key stockholders (NGOs, community institutions, private sector and etc) to coordinate the overall implementation of WE
  • Prepare survey formats, provide data collection from the field and markets, analyze the data, and prepare the final report.
  • Preparation of the capacity-building training materials on (financial literacy, bookkeeping, principle of business management, branding quality control, production process, marketing, and business plan writing).
  • Provide facilitation support to the targeted groups/entrepreneurs for opening a bank account and transferring the saving amounts into the opened bank account.
  • Conduct business development training for entrepreneurs, SMEs, and project beneficiaries.
  • Prepare and develop production plans and business plans for small households and entrepreneurs for scaling up their business/economic activities.  
  • Transfer seed capital grants to the selected entrepreneurs after completion of the training and development of the business plan.
  • Conduct post-distribution monitoring processes. Prepare reports and submit to line manager weekly/monthly basis.
  • Providing business development services through hands-on and mentoring support to project-targeted entrepreneurs, SMEs, farmers and SHHs producers and follow-up support to the target groups.
  • Maintain coordination with the government authorities in provincial and district level. Coordinate with other stakeholders in provincial level and district level. 
  • Perform any other activities as directed by the line manager and program technical team.

  • Good oral communication skills and conflict resolution competency to manage inter-group dynamics and mediate conflicting interests of varied actors.
  • Good team player, self-starter, has ability to work under minimum supervision and maintain good relationships.

Job Requirement

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelors in economics, business administration, commerce, and/or related fields master’s degree is an advantage.

 

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in conducting market need assessments, feasibility studies, and analysis of agriculture and livelihood-related options/activities.
  • Marketing and production promotion background with proven track record
  • Strong knowledge of developing business plans and marketing strategies for entrepreneurs.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding sub-national institutional contexts of Afghanistan.
  • Experience in working with local government or NGOs on agriculture/livelihood-related activities in remote areas of Afghanistan.
