About Enabled Children Initiative: The Enabled Children Initiative (ECI) is an independent charity organization registered as a 501(c)(3) in the USA with a registered branch in Afghanistan (number 465). ECI supports children with disabilities in Afghanistan. Launched in 2020, the Enabled Children School one of ECI’s 6 programs. It is Kabul’s first school for children with all types of disabilities, including physical, intellectual and/or sensory, and adapts learning approaches to meet the needs of each student. We enable each child to reach their unique capacity and potential, using traditional classroom approaches to teach standard academic subjects, as well as including occupational a physical therapy, sports, art, sign language and life-skills training into our curricula. The school works to integrate students into mainstream schools, and develop partnerships with those schools to encourage more inclusive learning environments in Kabul. The school is a family-focused learning environment, working closely with families, parents, and caretakers to ensure the best learning outcomes for students, and quality care both at school and in the home.
Job Description
ECI is hiring an administrative assistant to support the administrative team of the Enabled Children School. The position is based in Kabul working at the school main office and will report to the deputy administrator Responsibilities include:
- Assisting the Deputy Administrator and Administrator to liaise with relevant government ministries, assist with the student application and enrollment process, coordinate parent-teacher coordination and communication with parents, develop and implement school policies, help create lesson plans and class schedules, and assist in the on-going development of the school’s special curriculum for children with a range of types of disabilities.
- Assisting in maintaining general day-to-day operations of the school, including managerial, administrative and logistical tasks;
- Assisting the team of teachers with creation of individual student development plans and other classroom observations tasks related to the classrooms;
- Tracking the official documents in different departments of the ministry of education.
- Keep proper documentation of school files
- Keep the case files of children and ensure proper case management files using standard procedures, both in online data bases and hard copies and update the management form progress. .
- Assisting to monitor the student’s health status, and their general well-being, and reporting any issues to the deputy administrator as/if they arise;
- Assisting with communications tasks, including but not limited to public relations and communications with parents;
- Collect information, updates, and photos for reports and success stories
- Any other tasks as they may arise.
Job Requirement
The candidate should have the following:
- A university degree in educational management, management, literature
- Ability to work as part of a team;
- Compassion, patience, and a caring attitude, and experience in teaching/working with children with disabilities;
- Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto and proficient in English;
- At least 2 years’ experience working in the administrative field, preferably school administration, education in emergency or inclusive education and child protection and case management field.
- Experience working in education sector and with Ministry of Education is a plus;
- Strong organizational, managerial, and communication skills;
- Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Strong knowledge of computer skills (Word, excel, PowerPoint)
