About War Child: War Child flagship Afghanistan program advances social impact in the lives of vulnerable children, women and their families through its Justice, Education and Opportunity programs with child protection and gender across all its programs. The Afghanistan Country Program is currently undergoing an exciting expansion with newly secured long-term funding for programs in eight provinces Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar, Balkh, Kundoz, Takhar, Logar and Badakhshan, and will expand its program to other new provinces
Job Description
Position summary:
We are seeking an individual local in Kabul City to support our programs on the ground in Afghanistan. The ideal candidate will have an accounting and financial background along with cash management skills and an understanding of procurement procedures. This role includes communicating with an international team and developing trusted relationships with vendors and partners in Afghanistan. This work will help the organization move our work forward delivering high-quality education for women and girls in Afghanistan.
Job Duties:
- Maintain financial records, reconcile expenditures and complete financial records for Kabul Office.
- Cash collection and coordination with the program team on cash distributions.
- Scanning / safeguarding of documents.
- Audit documentation.
- Ensuring the cash payments to, Instructors, Vendors and Suppliers are made on time.
- Ensure adequate funding for all procurement needs in Kabul.
- Preparing appropriate financial reports as required.
- Procurement of program materials.
- Select suppliers and produce agreements.
- Supporting the implementation of field programs.
- Ensure that all procurement is completed in accordance with the procurement Policies and Procedures.
- Assess potential partners for educational projects
Job Requirement
Qualifications:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience
- Minimum post-secondary diploma, Bachelor degree preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and coordinate a variety of activities concurrently
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
- Experience working on shared drives such as GoogleDrive
- Experience working with accounting software such as QuickBooks
Preferred/Helpful:
- Basic bookkeeping and accounting skills
- Experience working with a multinational team remotely;
