Job Description

Union Aid is looking for a detail-oriented and qualified Tax Officer to prepare the tax payments and returns. As a tax officer, your core goal will be to recommend effective tax strategies that comply with applicable taxation laws of Afghanistan. Your responsibilities will include preparing tax returns, tax documentation, analyzing tax regulations, payment of taxes to government on time and completing tax reports. The applicant must have at least 3-5 years of relevant experience in taxation in Afghanistan and a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Afghan Taxation Laws, amendments and procedures.

Job Description:

  • Prepare tax payments
  • Estimate and track tax returns
  • Complete quarterly and annual tax reports
  • Organize and update the organization’s tax database
  • Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns
  • Share financial data with the finance/accounting department
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors
  • Forecast tax predictions to senior managers

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Entry of monthly tax in E-filling system (ARDES)
  2. Review and ensure that the data collected for tax payments of staff salaries, rental premises, rental vehicles and procurements contracts are accurate before payment,
  3. Ensure soft and hard copies with the appendices of the tax payments slips are available all the time,
  4. Correspond with the taxation authorities on queries arising from taxation issues,
  5. Complete quarterly and annual tax reports,
  6. Prepare necessary paperwork for tax payments and returns,
  7. Forecast tax predictions to management,
  8. Prepare annual tax return (Izhar Nama) and follow up with MTO for receiving of Clearance Certificate,
  9. Keeping up-to-date with changes to tax laws and regulations, and communicating those changes to relevant stakeholders,
  10. Providing advice and guidance to other staff members on tax-related matters, such as, tax exemptions, and tax deductions,
  11. Developing and implementing tax planning strategies to minimize the organization's tax liability,
  12. Familiar with income tax law tax administration law etc,
  13. Conducting face-to-face official meetings with taxpayers’ clients and government officials,
  14. Obtaining and analyzing financial information to ascertain the ability to pay the tax bill and liabilities,
  15. Familiar with Annual Income tax form and other related forms of Afghanistan income tax law,
  16. Submitting the Tax forms for Government,
  17. Calculation of taxes according to the law,
  18. Attention to detail with reporting & Problem-solving skills,
  19. Self-motivated team player and able to work independently with minimum supervision,
  20. Flexible attitude in an environment with frequently changing deadlines can be relied on to meet deadlines,
  21. All other duties and responsibilities related to designation and as per management instruction,
  22. Personal qualities that will help you succeed in this role include: self-motivated team player and able to work independently with minimum supervision.

Job Requirement

Work experience:

Minimum 3-4 years’ experience in Tax Related Field

Qualification:

  • BBA in finance or relevant field,
  • Proven work experience as a Tax Accountant Tax Analyst or Tax Preparer,
  • Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures,
  • Familiarity with accounting software packages
  • Computer literacy (MS Excel in particular),
  • Excellent analytical and time management skills
  • Strong numeracy skills,
  • Keen attention to detail,
  • BSc degree in Accounting Finance or relevant subject,
  • Good level of written and spoken English Fluent in Pashto, Dari and English.
