ZAWIA covers the diverse and untold realities of the new Afghanistan, from a different angle and a fresh perspective Project: Radio Magazine program for Enabled Children Initiative’s National Public Awareness Campaign on Disability About the Project: The Enabled Children Initiative will be undertaking a national public awareness campaign over the next three years to inform people in communities across Afghanistan about disability, and in particular to help break down the stigma against persons, particularly children, with disabilities. A key part of the campaign will be the production of a national radio magazine show covering disability, in collaboration with Zawia Media.
Job Description
The Radio Presenter will be in charge of presenting the radio magazine show on a weekly basis and working with the Zawia team of producers to help create quality programming. This position is based in Kabul at the Zawia studio, with some travel required. The Radio Presenter will report to the Radio Manager. Responsibilities include:
- Presenting the radio program once a month
- Helping producers come up with ideas and content development for the shows, and assisting in research and preparation for show production, including preparation of the script
- Interviewing a variety of guests for the radio program and preparing for interviews, as well as conducting prep meetings and call with guests to make sure they are prepared
- Taking visits out of the studio during production of the radio program, such as to schools or other community centers
- Working as a team with producers, sound technicians, videographers and other production staff to ensure timely production and recording of quality programming
Job Requirement
The candidate should have the following:
- At least 2 years’ experience working in radio, media or production, or a proven talent and skill for radio or television presenting,
- Strong public-speaking/presenting skills,
- Strong interpersonal and interviewing skills,
- Ability to work as part of a team,
- Research and planning skills
- Candidate must be a person living with a disability, who preferably has some experience working or volunteering with persons with disabilities, or in the disability rights, child rights, or human rights sectors;
- Fluency in Dari and Pashto.
- Preferred that candidate have skills with editing software’s, or a willingness to learn.
