About International Assistance Mission (IAM): Background: The International Assistance Mission (IAM) is an International Non-Government Organization registered in Switzerland (registration #CH-660-1239000-6) and Afghanistan (registration #001). IAM is one of the oldest NGOs in Afghanistan. IAM’s mission is to serve the people of Afghanistan through capacity building in the sectors of Education, Health and Economic development. Purpose of the organization: The Female Education Teacher Project (FTEP) commenced in 2013 to provide access of equal and quality education to females in villages of Balkh province. The objective of the project is to increase the number of female teachers in target communities in Balkh province and improve teaching practices thereby increasing access to quality education in the rural areas, particularly for girls. As a result, the villages become advocates for greater inclusion of women in education and society.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Operations Manager to manage the daily operations of project staff
- Ensure project policies are being implemented
- Develop Job Descriptions for staff
- Advertise for and hire new staff
- Prepare new staff contracts
- Conduct staff orientation
- Conduct staff appraisals
- Issue warning letters
- Track staff leave and overtime
- Create a healthy, positive and team-orientated work environment
- Work with Liaison Officer to get relevant government permissions
- Prepare government reports
- Keep abreast of Government Reports and Policies in the field of Education
- Sign off on Payroll
- Assist with budget tracking
- Work with Liaison Officer to get baseline data from villages
- Assist with Donor Reports
- Translate documents between Dari and English as needed
- Function as a translator when needed
Job Requirement
Requirements:
- Excellent English communication – both written and verbal
- Ability to translate formal documents from Dari to English and English to Dari
- Excellent computer skills in Word and Excel
- Experience in the field of HR, Administration or Management
- Familiarity with Government Ministries
- Willingness to travel to other major cities in Afghanistan
- Willingness to travel to villages in Balkh (when security measures permit)
- Honest person of integrity
- Takes initiative
- Strong people and conflict resolution skills
- Leadership and management ability
- Strong time management and organisation skills
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Mature, team player
