Job Description
Duties & Responsiblitis
The incumbent will be required to communicates in a professional and credible manner, excellent research skills and the ability to write persuasively and articulately. The main job duties involve researching, writing and organizing ideas, creating strategies, and presenting proposals.
The proposal writer is expected to work closely with several departments and representatives of departments, he/she should be able to develop good working relationships with people in the proposal writing department and other departments and within delegated authority, the proposal writer will be responsible for the following duties:
- Determines proposal concept by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFPs); attending strategy meetings.
- Meets proposal deadline by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirements with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings; transmitting proposals.
- Gathers proposal information by identifying sources of information; coordinating submissions and collections; identifying and communicating risks associated with proposals.
- Develops proposal by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials.
- Prepares presentation by evaluating text, graphics, and binding; coordinating printing.
- Maintains quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases.
- Obtains approvals by reviewing proposal with key providers and Program/Operation managers.
- Improves proposal-writing results by evaluating and re-designing processes, approach, coordination, and boilerplate; implementing changes.
- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; maintaining personal networks.
- Accomplishes Organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Any other tasks assigned by Director/Deputy director
Job Requirement
Qualifications & Preferred Skills
- Bachelor’s degree of business administration/ social sciences, or equivalent, MBA is preferable
- Proven 3 experience as proposal writer or relevant role;
- Experience in fundraising;
- Presentation Skills, Written Communication, Technical Documentation, Layout Skills, Problem Solving, Deadline-Oriented, Process Improvement, Coordination, Strategic Planning, Market Knowledge
- Outstanding organizational abilities;
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and commitment to the mission of the organization
- Flexible and able to multi-task;
- Ability to conceptualize, design and plan for projects and to prepare reports and proposals.
- Able to manage and plan the work effectively and meet deadlines.
- Prepare project proposal in response to the RFPs, RFAs and Expression of Interests.
- Prepare both financial and technical proposals.
- Analyze and develop concept notes for Projects. Develop project document, reports and any other papers
- Search market regularly for potential opportunities.
- Take initiatives for fundraisings.
- Conduct meeting with donors for fund raising.
- Develop required documents, processes, policies and procedures required for funding by donors.
- Provide necessary information regarding programs, funding status, reporting time and proposal development.
