About Dutch Committee for Afghanistan (DCA): DCA has been present in Afghanistan since 1988, focusing its interventions to herders and pastoralist communities’ to build resilience and enabling them to achieve long-term, inclusive and equitable development. DCA is currently implementing several livestock development and humanitarian projects in 15 provinces of Afghanistan. In 2021, we were able to benefit more than 586,000 vulnerable Afghans in building their resilience. Job Description

General Position Summary

The IT Officer is responsible for all activities of IT operations in the organization. S/he is responsible for strengthening the IT department by establishing the right systems. This position requires traveling to all field offices as per need.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for the day-to-day running of the IT system in The CA Kabul office.
  • Overseeing IT sections in regional offices.
  • Setting up and maintaining a central server for daily backups, shared storage and centralized updates of computer software packages
  • Maintaining a database of software licenses and ensuring no unlicensed programs are used on DCA computers
  • Close working with the communication team to keep updating the organization’s website, and social media pages.
  • Liaison with computer vendors, Internet Service Providers, and IT companies Providing different services, and maintaining up-to-date vendors’ contact information. 
  • Developing specifications and scope of work for computer hardware and software for DCA Kabul and regional offices.
  • Review internet connectivity and computer hardware to be compliant with DCA minimum standards.
  • Configure, deploy and maintain all network equipment for DCA office and guesthouse.
  • Coordinate with the Operation Manager for the creation and suspension of new user accounts/e-mails.
  • Maintain the proper storage of inactive IT assets (computers, printers etc.)
  • Ensure that security updates are properly being applied and remain up to date. 
  • Provide feedback in the form of a report to Operation Manager on DCA existing systems and how to make them more effective and efficient.
  • To maintain a backup system for the DCA Kabul office.
  • Maintaining a quarterly cleaning service of all computers, printers, keyboards, UPSs and other computer support equipment.
  • Update all the computers to protect them from viruses, vulnerability, and new external threats like spam, spy, and others.
  • Design and implement computer training for DCA staff (as appropriate) to enhance their ability in making use of the necessary applications and network resources.
  • Assist staff in their needs for understanding and improving their knowledge in the use of software and recommend formal or on-the-job training in the use of computers.
  • Deliver additional activities based on requests by his/her supervisor

Job Requirement

At least a University degree in social science or a relevant field is preferred.

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience in relevant field.

Good organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to think creatively in terms of tool and process development

Flexibility and adaptability to ever-changing needs and responsibilities

Ability to work both independently, and as part of a team

Fluency in English, Pashto, and Dari is required

Ability to travel to the fields/provinces
