Job Description

Job summary:

The ECD Teacher will be responsible for developing and implementing an educational program for children and parents. The activities must be attractive, interesting and meet the personal, social, emotional, linguistic, physical and cognitive development and needs of the children and enhance the knowledge and skills of the parents to support and develop their children.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Conduct 3 hours class sessions for the children on daily basis.
  • Greet and communicate with the children and their parents in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Maintain & file the progress and attendance records of the children on daily basis.
  • Design new educational activities, stories, songs, poems and materials based on child abilities, progress and program’s objectives.
  • Interact with the children and encourage their active involvement in activities.
  • Provide a warm, safe, healthy and caring environment.
  • Maintain the classroom areas, (inside and outside) materials and settings orderly, clean, and appealing.
  • Allow the children to grow and explore their skills based on their own choices and program’s objectives.
  • Design, implement and record daily and weekly lesson planning.
  • Work with other staff members to form a positive and supportive team atmosphere.
  • Ensures confidentiality of privileged information.
  • Record and file the child personal information conducted during the enrollment and survey.
  • Participate actively in trainings, workshops, seminars and exposure visits in the city or out of the city whenever is planned.
  • Community Relationship
  • Prepare and conduct Parent -Teacher Conference (PTC) on monthly basis in group, pair or individually in coordination with Parental Education (PE) teachers.
  • Record the minutes of every individual PTC. 
  • Maintain good communications and relationships with the parents.
  • Visit and meet the specific children in their respective home or outside the CBLC premises whenever is required and planned.
  • Participate in surveying the respective area and community whenever is required.
  • Invite the parents (mothers) of the children in the class to observe their children in the classroom.
  • Conduct meetings with the respective CBLC’s PE teachers and share the ECD class activities and ideas on weekly basis.
  • Provide opportunities for the PE teachers to take part in ECD classes and observe the child development activities and adult support on daily basis.
  • Support parents to ease their children’s transition periods from Home – ECD and ECD to Primary School.
  • Update the CBLC coordinator, Facilitator or Regional ECD Officer for any incidents occurred in the classroom for further actions (children’s attendance, dropout, absentee, issues, or any other administrative or academic incidences)
  • Provide an inventory list of the teaching materials existing in the classroom on monthly bases to the respective coordinator.
  • Design and submit the list of the teaching items needed to be repaired or purchased to the respective coordinator on weekly basis.
  • Share the lesson planning, students’ progress records, planning, minutes of the meetings and any other academic related documents to the facilitator or Regional ECD Officer or his/her nominees whenever is required.

Job Requirement

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of a 14th Grade relevant education is required, and bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Minimum three years teaching experience in a Primary/Pre-Primary Program. 
  • Competent in all aspects of early childhood teaching and learning.
  • Acquainted with technology, including Microsoft Office, internet research and online education resources.
  • Competent in dealing with conflict resolution/positive behavior management. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse staff. 
  • Excellent time management, organizational, interpersonal skills, and communication skills. 
  • Be willing to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
  • Receptive, creative, and open minded with the ability to adapt quickly. 
  • Be familiar or able to immediately familiarize with Child Protection Policies, the law on Domestic Violence and other related laws.
  • Pre-intermediate / intermediate level of English is an asset.
