Job Description
- Summary of Key Functions
- Build CBE teachers and Ministry of Education (MoE) related hub school principal’s/headmasters’ capacity through facilitation of academic and pedagogical trainings as per the project training plans and on the job assistance during the monitoring visits.
- Assist Project/Field Supervisor in developing Community-Based Education (CBE), Early Child Education (ECE), ALP, ECBE and LSCBE work plan and daily activities schedule.
- Conduct and facilitate social audit (SA) activities at community and class level and build teacher’s capacity on how to mainstream and follow these activities up.
- Conduct and facilitate disability related activities at class and community level, strengthen linkage with disable aid agencies and refer disable people to them for further assistance.
- In case of emergency situation will adapt alternative teaching and learning opportunity (self/remote learning) for effective implementation of project activities to reach to the ultimate goals of quality teaching deliver to the students.
- Set weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly goals for CBE teachers as well students, and providing advice and guidance to ensure these goals are met.
- Key relations
- Report to the Project/Field Supervisor.
- Collaborate with Project M&R Officer, Community Mobilizer, Technical Advisor and other project staff as well as staff from other projects.
- Ensure coordination of project activities MoE hub school, DED and PED staff.
- Contribute to all new initiatives and data collection for education and gathering relevant data and information.
- Ensure registration and integration of CBE students and teachers to the MoE formal system according to the MoE CBE guideline.

- Key Results Expected
As a CARE primary contact to the communities, the Teacher Trainer works directly with CBE teachers, School Management Committee (SMC), students, parents of students, Ministry of Education (MoE) related hub schools, and Provincial and District Education Departments of MoE.
Monitoring and Supervision of CBE classes/schools:
- Carry out classes and schools’ monitoring and supervision to make sure that classes/schools are functional in line with project objectives, strategy and plan and provide quality basic education to students.
- Prepare CBE class annual, monthly, weekly and daily monitoring and supervision plans;
- Observe classroom teaching-learning process and activities and provides on the job training/coaching and assistance to the teachers.
- Check classroom records (student, teacher attendance, inventory, etc.) and provides principals and teachers required and appropriate M&E instructive assistance in timely manner.
- Undertake classroom material need assessment during the monitoring trips and makes sure timely delivery of required materials to classes.
- Undertake physical check of class/school building in order to ensure the existence of conducive physical learning environment.
- Make sure that district and provincial education departments receive a copy of CBE students’ final exam results.
Capacity Building and enhance basic education quality inside CBE classes:
- Build MoE relevant school principals/headmasters and CBE teachers’ capacity through conducting training sessions as per the project training plans and on the job coaching during monitoring visits so that they best meet their school management and teaching-learning responsibilities.
- Undertake school principals/headmasters and teachers’ training need assessment.
- Prepare training plan for training of school principals/headmasters and schoolteachers.
- Develop and conduct training programs for school principals/headmasters and teachers.
- Develop training aid materials.
- Conduct evaluation of training sessions.
- Assists Technical Advisors in developing training manuals.
- Support teachers and program in order to enhance quality of basic education service delivery;
- Enhance CBE teacher capacity for checking student Psychosocial, attendance, Sickness, and competencies periodically.
- Ensure effective implementation of COVID-19 and other communicable disease guidance of WHO and MoPH are strictly used.
Data Collection:
- Collect school and training data and assists Project M&R in data analysis, interpretation, compiles and quantitative and narrative reports’ development.
- Assist Project/Field Supervisor in the development of the final versions of various reports;
- Disseminate relevant information to principals and teachers.
Other relevant duties and tasks:
- Assist Project/Field supervisor in setting project and Individual Goal setting.
- Assist Project/Field Supervisor in developing project implementation and action plans, operation budget, and reports.
- Make sure implementation of child protection, child safeguarding and conducive learning environment is in place with zero tolerance of gender bias, harassment, exploitation and abuse.
Make sure teacher and SMC member are well aware about child protection related rights and fully committed to consider during lifetime of project.
Job Requirement
Core Competencies:
- Enthusiasm to the job;
- Children and adolescent learning theory, training delivery and methodologies that facilitate learning, transfer of learning, training content development, monitoring and evaluating training effectiveness.
- Willingness to work in rough field conditions and tough security situation.
- CARE emphasizes on the appointment of suitably qualified, skilled staff that have the right value, attitudes and approaches to the protection of children and safety and any contact should be positive and appropriate to keep children safe.
Skills and Experience:
- Extensive teaching experience in the subject areas. Very good training skills, good communication skills in national languages and fair level of written and spoken English.
Education:
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) (16th grade graduates) from Education Faculties: Science (Biology & Chemistry, Math & Physics), University graduate from other faculties with three years’ specific teacher training experience in Biology & Chemistry, Math & Physics subjects with an International organization is also acceptable.
Work Experience:
- At least four years working experience in teacher training, preferably with an international organization.
Languages Skills:
- Fluency in written and spoken both Dari and Pashto languages, and Good in English.
