About Homeland Youths Social Institution (HYSI): The Homeland Youths Social Institution (HYSI) is a non-profit, non-political, non-governmental, and independent organization that aims to Increase the ability and coordination among service providers to provide quality protective service for children at risk, at achieving youth comprehensive and sustainable development, through providing them with services, programs, and projects to improve the economic standing of the youth and to create new educational, rehabilitation, and vocational training opportunities, followed with mentoring and guidance services. Since its establishment HYSI’s activities have been around increasing child protection in emergencies, particularly in the northern and central regions due to having existing strong networks and capacity and other reasons of cultural, local, geographical familiarization, by providing basic needs of the most vulnerable children from various communities such as street working children, children on hunger, IDP’s children, children separated from family and their caregivers including widows who are headed households. HYSI was formed by a group of development professionals who have been working in the diverse fields of reproductive rights, sexuality, and violence against children, women, media and human rights. The group’s experience coupled with discussions and consultations with experts, donors and others in the field established the need to form an organization focused on promoting the basic rights of children in addressing issues of education, health violence against children, gender and human rights. Our Mission: To provide immediate and effective assistance that prevents loss of life and alleviates human suffering. To response to the extreme violence, fear and rights violations faced by people in Afghanistan every day and encapsulates efforts to address critical problems related to physical and mental wellbeing and coping mechanisms. To provide assistance to conflict-affected children under 5 and who are suffering from acute malnutrition, including infants, to safe, nutritious and sufficient food. To Increase equitable and inclusive access to relevant, safe, and quality learning opportunities for children, youth, and adults in Afghanistan, especially women and girls as well as gender equality and empowerment all women and girls. To facilitate development of societies through social work and reach out to lager community through extension at local, and national level. Homeland Youths Social Institution defines child protection as all efforts to prevent and respond to abuse, neglect, exploitation, and other forms of violence against children. especially the most vulnerable, at risk and mostly in Afghanistan context the war affected children. Homeland Youths Social Institution seeks to create a protective environment around children, such that they not only survive but thrive in their communities for better future.
Job Description
- Lead project implementation and ensure adherence to grant work plans, budget plans and monitoring and evaluation plans.
- Present the program to various stakeholders, attend technical cooperation meeting undertake follow up action related to program scopes.
- Liaise the project with stakeholders, to buy-in their support and input for project implementation
- Maintain professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions
- Integrate the project admin, finance, human resources, procurement units and ensure that the project operation is always supported
- Interaction with communities to select the community-based structures for mobilization purposes to protect children and establishment of new community -based child protection networks
- Travel and conduct visit to the target districts, meet with the community structures, school’s teachers and students, volunteers, CHWs, children and child protection organization to coordinate integration efforts for program
- Supervise the training and assist in development of training contents on PFA and MHPSS for social workers, community-based structures, volunteers, community health workers to provide psycho-social support for the children and caregivers as well promote project team capacity to successfully execute the project.
- Ensure the social work providers identify, register, and trace families and reunify unaccompanied and separated children and manage their cases as per standard operation procedures
- Ensure appropriate M&E tools are in place and are effectively used for the monitoring and evaluation of the activities.
- Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly/weekly progression, probations reviews, and performance reviews reports.
- Identify risks and changes in the project and manage changes and mitigate the risks on a timely manner.
- Establish good network with the government authorities for smooth and timely implementation of the project
- Monitor procurement procedures of the project
- Conduct PSEA training for all personnel to ensure the implementation of the project is done in line with UNICEF and HYSI's policies as well as ensuring everyone related to the HYSI's work is well aware of SEA policy and regulations
- Provide progressive report to the HQ to ensure, transparency, efficiency, and timely implementation of the project
- Perform any other professional duty assigned by the HYSI management
Job Requirement
- Master Degree in Social sciences, Management, Finance, Bussiness, Accounting, Commerce, Education, Law and Literature (PMP Preferred).
- Fluency spoken and written in Dari, Pashto and English.
- 5 Years of experience is required in the relevant field.
- Experience of working in the international humanitarian sector is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of current affairs and humanitarian sector in Afghanistan.
- Ability to work, lead and manage in a diverse cultural and social context.
- Leadership, Managment, Analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Ability to work and resovle disputes if arrises with the governement authorities
- Ability to use computer programs
- Ability to travel to provinces when required
- Strong academic and work experience background
