About Turquoise Mountain: Turquoise Mountain is an INGO which was founded in 2006 and works in Afghanistan, Myanmar, and the Middle East to revive traditional skills to create jobs, skills and a renewed sense of pride and to support communities with health and education services. The charity has set up the Institute for Arts and Architecture in Kabul, the first internationally accredited vocational institution of its kind in Central Asia, training hundreds of artisans. The institute sits amongst over a hundred private houses and is surrounded by a community that is served by a clinic and primary school that were established as part of the regeneration of Murad Khani in Kabul’s old city. Turquoise Mountain’s Ferozkoh Family Health Clinic (FFHC) has been a significant element in the restoration of Murad Khani in Kabul. FFHC is an urban clinic offering community-oriented primary health care and training in family medicine. It specializes in maternal-child health and community health outreach. Its’ mission is to develop a model of urban primary healthcare that is sustainable, affordable, accessible, continuous, comprehensive, and integrated with other health services in Kabul.
Job Description
Job Summary:
You are fully responsible to teach Gems Cutting related subject: Mosaic, Bead Making, Inlay and overlay and Nigin and manage classes based on academic standards. Your duties will range from the preparation of course work, planning of classes and the marking of work handed in. On top of this you will also have to arrange any extracurricular activities and set targets for your pupils. You will also be responsible for the safety of pupils during your lessons. you must report from all your class related activities to the head of department, you will teach manufacturing of stone products, traditional and modern Gems Cutting techniques or other style of Gems Cutting to the 10th-12th class students based on the current curriculum. you as master of craft (Gems Cutting Teacher) will also have the responsibility to review this subject current curriculum or produce the new one if required.
Core Responsibilities:
- Teaching practical classes for Gems Cutting techniques according to the available TMI curricula guideline.
- Teaching manufactory of stone products, traditional techniques of lapidary and Gems cutting, based on historical/modern standards.
- Teaching Gems Cutting related subject: Mosaic, Beads Making, Inlay and Overlay, Nigin and other required subjects based on the requirement of curriculum.
- Leading the students towards the high level of Art and Craft skills
- Preparing and delivering lessons to a range of classes
- Marking work, giving appropriate feedback, and maintaining records of students’ Progress and development.
- Selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment.
- Undertaking pastoral duties and supporting students on an individual basis through academic or personal difficulties.
- Preparing students for qualifications and external examinations.
- Managing students’ behavior in the classroom and on school premises and applying appropriate and effective measures in cases of misbehavior.
- Participating in departmental meetings and whole school training events.
- Liaising with other professionals, such as Head of Departments and education officer
- Undergoing regular observations and participating in regular on job training as part of continuing professional development
- Teaching in the institute, which takes students aged 15-25, teaching the institute Gems Cutting curriculum appropriate to the age of the students.
- Plans lessons in line with targeted objectives to ensure that students learn. He/she also encourage, monitor and record the progress of his/her students.
- Support, observe and record the progress of his/her class. He/she also plan lessons in line with targeted objectives with the aim of ensuring a healthy culture of learning.
- Keep up to date with developments in their subject area, new resources, methods, and objectives. The instructor liaises and networks with other professionals, parents and careers both informally and formally.
- Reviewing the current Gems Cutting curriculum and /or develop the new curriculum if required.
- Other tasks given by TMI authorities or by line manager.
Job Requirement
- Must be art craft professor and at least have diploma (14 grade) in Gems Cutting from relevant vocational institutes.
- Having successful 4 years teaching experience in vocational institutes.
- Having the best communication skill
- Ability to teach courses on the collegiate level.
- Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods, relate to students and facilitate learning
