Job Description
Duties & Responsibilities
- Contribute in development/revision of training materials:
- Keep informed about the changes in Mental Health context in Afghanistan and propose changes for revision of IAM mental health training materials.
- Participate in adapting training materials when needed.
- Prepare articles for each issue of the magazine.
- Distribute the magazines to cooperating partners.
- Facilitate Mental Health Trainings to program’s target groups.
- Assist the project manager/officer in organizing the trainings (i.e. invite the participants, prepare the training room, coordinate with logistic to supply the training needs etc…).
- Prepare training schedules for the courses.
- Give training sessions by using different training methods (stories, role plays, group discussions, brain storming etc.)
- Establish friendship environment of training for participants to feel free to share their ideas.
- Evaluate course-results through pre-post-tests, questionnaires and document evaluation results.
- Discuss all test/evaluation results (including the personal evaluation of your training sessions) with the Project Officer.
- Develop training report as per defined reporting format and submit it to Project Officer.
- Conduct post follow up of the training participants to find out the impact of trainings on their day to day life.
- Coordinate with other trainers in metal health program.
- Facilitate support groups in the targeted communities.
- Support Mental Health advocacy events:
- Organize awareness rising activities about the importance of mental health care and prevention of mental illness.
- Support the advocacy officer to prepare and find out best way of raising awareness in the community
- Contribute in organization of advocacy events (i.e. invitation of participants, arrangement of the event, logistical support etc.)
- Record narrative and statistical information concerning all activities.
- Under supervision of Project Officer, develop/revise different tools to be used for reporting/monitoring of training activities.
- Collect all required information from training activities and compile it into the defined database and submit it to Project Officer by the end of each month.
- Analyze the training statistics (pre-post-test reports, KAP etc.) and share the findings and recommendations to Project Officer.
- Active participation to all kinds of surveys in targeted area according to the project design

Qualifications
Education:
- Graduated Clinical Psychologist/Educational Psychologist, or any other related field
Personal:
- Concern for the wellbeing of the mentally ill
- Concern for the wellbeing of the project staff
- High motivation to develop quality mental health care in Afghanistan
- Willing to take responsibility for the project
- Willing to learn further new skills
- Able to travel to the communities.
Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in training provision with national or international NGOs.
