Job Description

Job Purpose

The Case Workers will work under the supervision of Case management technical Officer and will report to him/Her.  The Case Workers will provide daily case management support to children affected by displacement, conflict in the targeted Provinces. The Caseworkers are responsible for ensuring the cases are managed in accordance with the established process and ensuring that decisions taken are in the best interests of the child.

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Identify, document and provide case management process for children at risk of protection concerns.
  • Conduct regular field visits to beneficiaries in camps, informal settlements, communities, and households in targeted districts
  • Case Worker conducts an immediate assessment from the level of risk that the child is exposed to and ensure immediate report that could involve high-risk to line manager.  
  • Develop appropriate case plans for children with the determination of the best interest of the child
  • Share information with parents/caregivers, as appropriate, and support them to implement relevant parts of the case plan;
  • Provide referrals and follow-up for children with external service-providers
  • Sensitize community focal points on CP case identification and safe referrals
  • Commit to excellent documentation and reporting of the case management files in line with the BID, confidentiality and other relevant guidelines
  • Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to War Child’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
  •  Any other related task as assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirement

Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology or another related field;
  • 2 years of relevant experience in fieldwork on the issues related to Child Protection in emergencies;
  • At least 1-year specific social work or case management work experience with children particularly in emergency settings
  • Adequate knowledge and skills to manage child protection cases according to the standard case management system.
  • Ability to travel independently to the targeted districts
  • Fluent in national languages, Pashto and Dari
