Job Description
The Supply Chain and Procurement Manager will oversee the entire supply chain process and procurement activities for Boustan Sabz, ensuring the efficient and cost-effective acquisition of materials and services. This role involves managing supplier relationships, coordinating logistics, and ensuring that all procurement activities are aligned with the company’s operational and financial goals. The position requires close collaboration with production, operations, sales and finance teams to optimize the supply chain and support Boustan Sabz’s growth strategy. The role is based in Kabul, with regular travel to various Boustan sites
Duties & Responsibilities
Supply Chain Management:
- Oversee and manage the end-to-end supply chain process, including sourcing, procurement, logistics, inventory management, and distribution.
- Ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of raw materials and goods to all production and processing facilities.
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies that align with the company's operational goals, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and risk mitigation.
- Monitor and track supply chain performance through KPIs, addressing any bottlenecks or inefficiencies in the process.
- Procurement & Vendor Management:
- Lead procurement activities for all goods and services, including raw materials, equipment, and other operational necessities.
- Establish strong relationships with local and international suppliers to ensure competitive pricing, quality, and reliability.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers to achieve favorable terms and conditions for Boustan Sabz.
- Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations and manage supplier risks, ensuring compliance with company standards.
Inventory & Warehouse Management:
- Ensure optimal inventory levels to support production needs while minimizing carrying costs and avoiding overstock.
- Implement inventory control systems to track stock levels, ensuring accuracy and preventing stock shortages or surpluses.
- Collaborate with warehouse teams to ensure efficient storage, handling, and distribution of materials across all Boustan sites.
Logistics & Transportation:
- Coordinate the transportation of goods from suppliers to production sites, ensuring timely and cost-efficient logistics.
- Oversee the management of transportation contracts and ensure that all shipments meet delivery schedules.
- Optimize logistics operations to reduce costs, improve delivery timelines, and enhance overall supply chain efficiency.
Sourcing & Market Research:
- Continuously research and identify new suppliers, materials, and technologies to support the company’s growth and innovation.
- Stay updated on market trends, pricing fluctuations, and emerging opportunities that can impact Boustan Sabz’s supply chain.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements within the procurement and supply chain functions.
Risk Management & Compliance:
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to address potential disruptions in the supply chain, such as supplier failures, transportation delays, or regulatory changes.
- Ensure all procurement and supply chain activities comply with local and international regulations, including ethical sourcing practices and environmental sustainability standards.
- Prepare contingency plans to minimize the impact of supply chain risks on production and operations.
Collaboration with Internal Teams:
- Work closely with production, operations, and finance teams to forecast material needs, set procurement budgets, and support operational planning.
- Ensure alignment between supply chain activities and production schedules to avoid delays or interruptions in operations.
- Collaborate with the finance team to manage procurement budgets, track expenditures, and ensure cost control.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Provide regular reports to the Vice President of Administration on supply chain performance, procurement activities, and cost-saving initiatives.
- Use data-driven insights to improve decision-making in procurement and logistics, leveraging analytics to identify trends and optimize processes.
- Track and report key metrics, including lead times, delivery performance, inventory turnover, and supplier compliance.
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead and manage the supply chain and procurement teams, providing guidance, support, and training to enhance their performance.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging the team to propose new ideas for improving efficiency and reducing costs.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear objectives for team members to ensure alignment with company goals.
Travel to Boustan Sites:
- Regularly travel to Boustan Sabz’s production and processing facilities to monitor supply chain operations and ensure smooth coordination between procurement, logistics, and production teams.
- Identify and address any site-specific challenges related to the supply chain and procurement functions.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management.
- Proven experience in supply chain management, procurement, and logistics, ideally within a production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Experience with supply chain software and inventory management systems.
- Willingness to travel regularly to Boustan sites.
