About Welthungerhilfe: Welthungerhilfe it is one of Germany's biggest non-governmental relief organizations. Non-profit making, politically independent and non-denominational, the organization is run by a Supervisory Board of honorary members under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. Its work is funded by private donations and public grants. Welthungerhilfe is working since the 1980’s continuously in Afghanistan and opened the first offices in 1992. Since this time Welthungerhilfe has implemented some 165 project in Afghanistan. Main fields of Welthungerhilfe intervention in Afghanistan are emergency relief, food and nutrition security, rural and regional development and water and sanitation.
Job Description
Purpose of position:
Ensure the full compliance of project operations adhering to WHH rules, regulations and policies. Implementation of operational strategies, establishment of management targets and monitoring the achievement of results.
Main Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain good relationships with local communities and project participants
- Organizing and holding meetings with local communities and other stakeholders.
- Assist with project participant selection, registration and mobilization of communities prior to distributions and training activities.
- Participates in needs assessments, participatory rural appraisals, feasibility studies, stakeholder analyses and community consultations.
- Various fieldwork including but not limited to assisting with distributions.
- Assisting with data collection and dissemination of information.
- Regular reporting to project manager or direct supervisor.
- Provide accurate information in a timely manner to the management team on topics and developments related to the project’s community mobilization related activities, including press reviews and security related information.
- Maximize stakeholder contribution and community participation in activities.
- Assist other departments with field-level support tasks as required.
- Act as liaison and cooperate with other WHH projects in the country
- Participate in weekly meetings and daily planning meetings.
- Perform other tasks as required.
Job Requirement
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or related fields
- 1-3 years relevant experience working for an (I)NGO in Balkh-Jawzjan-Samangan.
- Previous experiences working towards food security and nutrition, is a distinct advantage.
- Clear conceptual understanding and practical experience on analysis of local socio-cultural context and situation, rural power structures and dynamics in Afghanistan.
- Ability to facilitate meetings, workshops and gatherings to reach its required outputs
- Fluent in Dari and Pashtu and the local languages as well as good communication skills in English
