Job Description
PURPOSE OF POSITION
The purpose of this position is to mobilize communities and establish Community Based Child Protection Committee in the project sites. S/he will be responsible for capacity building of the committees, ensure their active participation in child protection activities and monitor their engagement with children and community members to create protective environment for children. S/he will be responsible to support awareness raising campaigns in the targeted communities on child protection issues and risks. The holder of this position will support in developing, designing, installing, and distributing the awareness messages.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Developing a weekly and monthly plan and implement the plans on time
- Conducting field visits and mapping of the most at-risk areas with close coordination with the provincial project officer
- Mobilize communities to identify volunteers from boys, girls, women, and men to participate in community-based child protection committees.
- In consultation with the provincial project officer and the communities, identify the capacity gaps of the committee members, develop capacity building plan and facilitate its implementation
- Support the project/team in developing and designing the awareness-raising package and facilitate its implementation.
- Provide support to committee members to develop awareness-raising plans and support its implementation;
- Map service providers in the project sites and support the project team in developing referral pathways.
- Sensitize children, caregivers/parents, and other stakeholders about child rights and responsibilities with a view to identifying child protection cases;
- Support the committee members to organize regular meetings, coach them to adhere to child right and child protection principles in their discussion, and ensure the discussion are recorded and reported properly
- Draft and submit weekly and monthly update report to the line manager;
- Other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor

Job Requirement
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Minimum education, training and experience requirements to qualify for the position:
Minimum education and skills required for this position:
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Science or relevant field
- Understanding of protection principles and child rights.
- Strong skills in communication.
- English and Dari – reading, writing, and verbal skills. Pashto speaking and writing a plus
Minimum work experience required for this position:
- At least 2-3 years’ work experience in the similar field with INGOs and/or reputed NGOs
- Interpersonal, management and conflict resolution skills.
- Knowledge of MS Office and statistical programs
- Ability to work in a team environment
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Experience:
Educational degrees / certificates and skills preferred for this position:
- Master degree in relevant field is preferred.
- Understanding of gender programming
- Communication skills and knowledge of local communities.
- Strong capacity building and facilitation skills

The position is based in Herat/Badghis/Ghor/Farah city with field travel to project sites in districts. The successful candidate will receive an orientation to the role and operating environment.
