Job Description
Community Mobilizer is responsible for maintaining a close relationship with the communities to facilitate a smooth program and project implementation. Facilitate awareness creation measures and facilitate community responses and develop contact and professional relationships with community elders, religious leaders, and the Community Development Councils. S/he will ensure the smooth running of assigned project activities in the targeted areas and report to the Project Manager.
- Assist in the implementation the community mobilization strategy in a manner that promotes gender equality, democratic decision-making and is all-inclusive.
- Participate in the design of the Project community mobilization strategy and come up with a workable implementation plan within the Project time-frame and WASSA policies.
- Conduct and analyses needs assessments and participatory rural appraisals as needed.
- Identify target communities and mobilize community male/female groups.
- Prepare and conduct trainings and learning tools/materials for communities and/or other trainers.
- projects according to the guidelines and schedules set by the WASSA community mobilization strategy.
- Coordinate effectively with government representatives, including, DoRR and provincial and district leaders.
- Monitor and evaluate effectiveness of community groups ‘progress and make recommendation for the improvements;
- Provide regular written activity reports to the Project Manager.
- Promote and adhere to the principles and objectives of WASSA;
- Engage women in community participation in a way that promotes gender equality respecting the local environment and adapts to the western Afghanistan cultural values.
- Adhere to all WASSA administrative procedures and policies;
- Adhere to all WASS and security policies;
- Assist with general program operations and field-based activity;
- Conduct himself/herself both professionally and personally in such a manner as to bring credit to WASSA and to not jeopardize its humanitarian mission in Afghanistan.
- Other duties as assigned.
Influence & Representation
- Identify, build and manage collaborative partnerships with local governments and other stakeholders relevant to the project.
- Communicate effectively to ensure overall project targets and donor obligations are met.
Security
- Ensure compliance with security procedures and policies as determined by country security strategy and regular advisory.
- Proactively ensure that team members operate in a secure environment and are aware of policies.
Job Requirement
- Bachelor degree with minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the field.
- Excellent Dari, Pashto and Basic English language skills.
- Proficiency in the use of computer office applications and email.
- Strong educational, livelihoods, business development, marketing skills.
- Ability to regularly travel to the project sites for doing field work.
- Should be familiar with the area’s culture, traditions and its sensitivities.
- Experience in working with and coordinating with INGOs and other stakeholders.
- Strong interpersonal, intercultural and communication skills.
- Enthusiasm and commitment to improving others’ good governance opportunities, and at engaging with rural communities and marginalized urban households.
- Able to provide clear and brief written reports.
