Job Description
Job Purpose
Under the overall technical guidance of the MEAL Manager and direct supervision of the MEAL coordinator, the incumbent for this position is responsible for establishing and overseeing a functional MEAL system for the EiE-ECW project. The MEAL Assistant will be responsible for supporting the design and do the implementing the M&E activities of the education in emergency Project; assisting the MEAL Coordinator in preparing Quarterly MEAL reports on project progress and will monitor the project activities on a regular basis.
The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:
- Support MEAL coordinator in strengthening and implementing WCUK MEAL approaches, procedures, and practices
- Assist MEAL team in developing systematic and realistic monitoring plans that capture quantitative and qualitative data to report on project performance indicators.
- In collaboration with MEAL coordinator develop monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning tools for the education in emergency project
- Monitor all education in emergency project activities and progress towards achieving the project output;
- Carry out regular field monitoring visits to the project locations and EiE classes.
- Preparing monthly and quarterly reports on project progress
- Assist WCUK in planning and implementation EiE assessments
- Prepare and maintain project databases
- Manage and maintain complaints and feedback mechanism for EiE project
- Contribute to creating a culture committed to the safeguarding of children and adults and compliant to War Child’s Child Safeguarding and Adults at Risk Policies.
- Any other related task as assigned.

Person Specification
War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The right candidate will share these qualities and bring effective leadership to a diverse team. The successful candidate will be creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.
Experience and mandatory criteria:
- University Degree( preferably in education and or social science)
- Minimum 3 years work experience in education and or child protection sectors
- Minimum 2 years’ relevant work experience in MEAL, preferably in education monitoring.
- Experience in Leading and or facilitating relevant education/MEAL trainings
- Experience in designing tools and approaches for data collection
- Proficient and experience in report writing, documentation and working with databases
- Experience in team work and working with the communities
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (written and oral).
- Must be able to travel to the project sites and other provinces
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office Packages
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Able to work independently with little supervision
- Able to work under pressure, to tight deadlines, and with competing priorities.
