Job Description
Under the supervision of the Project Manager, s/he will be responsible for the timely and correct implementation of the protection component of the INTERSOS program in the BHA project;
Coordinate the field teams, with special attention to logistic and security issues in the field;
Make sure the field teams are well equipped to implement activities in the field, i.e. availability of vehicles, stationary etc.;
Make sure field teams set targets and those are constantly monitored and achieved;
Support the team in developing workplans and field visit plans and ensure they are followed
Monitor quality of activities at field sites to assess proper delivery of activities, including case management, PSS, and awareness sessions with community members;
Ensure Intersos response is meeting community needs and suggest changes if required
Document and monitor ongoing challenges related to HR and provide structured feedback to management;
Support the Project Manager on recruitment of protection staff and on performance evaluation of supervised staff;
Support the Project Manager on filling the monthly HR matrix (i.e. absences, leaves, permits) of supervised staff.
Review Cash requests for Cash for Protection and submit it to the Protection Coordinator for approval
Conduct weekly review meetings with the team, including case management conferences to provide guidance to case management teams
Conduct case audits, review on case management online platform and field visits to ensure the quality of interventions
Ensure that the Case Management platform is regularly updated by staff
Ensure Data Protection protocols are followed by all Protection staff in the handling data
Capacity building and reporting:
In coordination with the Specialists, ensure the all field staff are trained on the basics of Protection, Case Management, Protection Monitoring and PSS
Make sure capacity building opportunities for field teams are identified and make sure staff members are nominated to attend those;
Make sure capacity development plans are developed for staff members and performance reviews are conducted regularly;
Pursue timely reporting to management, highlighting potential challenges and ways of addressing them;
Provide monthly reports on project implementation and achievement of targets and derive trends on Protection risks and needs
Coordination:
Maintain close coordination with other PAM‘s and protection staff members, especially Protection Specialist;
Materialize internal referrals to other departments, boosting the assistance that beneficiaries can receive from the organization;
Support mapping of services and development of effective referral pathways;
Disseminate mapping of services and keep it up to date;
Attend all the relevant fora in Kandahar and make sure the organization is well represented, with up-to-date information.
Provide information and reports to the Protection Coordinator when needed
Job Requirement
Minimum 5 years’ experience in protection programming.
University Degree in Psychology, Social sciences or equivalent.
Knowledge of global protection standards and relevant bodies of international law, very good understanding of protection and refugee rights.
Experience in developing and delivering high quality protection-related training and tools to support practical implementation of protection standards
Demonstrated ability to work within humanitarian context.
Proficiency in English, Pashto and Dari languages is highly essential.
Essential computer literacy (word, excel and internet)
Commitment to INTERSOS principles.
Comply with all relevant INTERSOS policies and procedures.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Computer literacy (Word, Excel)
Excellent analytical and Reporting skills
A high degree of flexibility and ability to work in insecure environment

Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Understanding of humanitarian operations principles, standards and best practices
Experience in trainings and capacity building / development of staff is desirable
Ability and willingness to travel and stay overnight at service delivery point.
