About War Child UK: War Child was established in 1993 as a response to the brutal effects of conflict on children during the Balkans war. We are currently operational in Iraq, Afghanistan, Jordan, Uganda, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and the Central African Republic. Person Specification

War Child in Afghanistan operates in a dynamic environment with a team of highly motivated and dedicated staff. The successful candidate will be a creative problem solver and foster a solution-based approach to management.

Job Purpose

The purpose of this position is to provide vocational training services based on the NSDP standards for the vulnerable women and girls in Integration Center based in Herat. He/she will be responsible for the safe planning, designing and implementing the Maimanagi Hand Industry curriculum and to liaise effectively with center colleagues for improvement of the service quality.

 

Job Description

The Duties and responsibilities may include but not limited to:

  • Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class;
  • Organizing classes and taking responsibility for the progress of the lessons monitored through agreed and standardized tools;
  • Ensure using innovative teaching methodology which meets practical learning needs.
  • Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students;
  • Preparing a list of needed materials for the class in collaboration with the Business Trainer
  • Provide theory and practical trainings to students according to the NSDP standards;
  • Assigning work, correcting and marking work carried out by his/her students;
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behavior of one’s students through agreed and standardized tools;
  • Contributing to oral and practical assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students;
  • Reviewing    and    evaluating    one’s    own    teaching    and    learning    strategies, methodologies and program/s in line with the curriculum and guidelines;
  • Registering and monitoring the attendance of students under one’s care;
  • Providing the list of Graduated students for in-kind Sub grant distribution
  • Develop and submit daily, weekly and monthly report to the supervisor.
  • Undergo safeguarding, code of conduct and child and women’s rights training and complying with child safeguarding and vulnerable adults’ protocols and legislative requirements.
  • Carry out any other reasonable duties within the overall function of the job deemed necessary or as requested by line manager/supervisor.

Job Requirement

Experience and mandatory criteria:

  • Have a baccalaureate
  • 2-3 years’ relevant experience in vocational training, Maimanagi hand industry field preferably in humanitarian INGOs.
  • Experience in working with children and Women
  • Have a basic understanding of child and vulnerable women safeguarding Excellent Communication, coordination, Negotiation skills
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Excellent technical skills
  • Have a positive, constructive, and supportive attitude towards learners’ challenges, ideas and mistakes
